Throttled Pro overview

Throttled Pro provides weighted network queues (WF2Q+) that guarantee bandwidth for all your essential network services like Web browsing, email, and online gaming. In addition, it provides ACK packet priority which speeds up downloads when you are sending out a lot of data. This combination assures that you get the most out of your Internet service.

Features
  • Provides instantaneous response for SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, POP, IMAP and VNC connections; also allows you to prioritize any other internet protocol you want to remain responsive under heavy load
  • Includes optimizations for many online games including Unreal Tournament 2004, World of Warcraft (I, II, and III), Call of Duty, Ghost Recon, Starcraft, Diablo II and Quake 3
  • Manages BitTorrent, FTP, DCC and other file sharing protocols so your connection always stays lag free
  • Allows you to cap the bandwidth of any service or combination of services; you may have an unlimited number of bandwidth caps if you use the advanced configuration panel
  • Provides ACK packet priority to guarantee fast download speeds while your machine is uploading at maximum speed

What’s new in version 1.5.1

Version 1.5.1:
  • Updated to use throttled-0.5.1, which fixes LAN-capping issues experienced by some users; we now make sure 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, and Bonjour networks are not throttled

A lot of apps have built in throttling now sufficient enough for my needs usually: speed download, unison, transmission all the general downloading apps have it now so your wife does not go crazy when you take all the bandwidth. I never quite have a need for the QOS thing but I think the idea is very good behind that. Last update seems a long time ago. I am still considering purchasing.

In the discount of the day section "MIsha" says she used it for small servers connected via VPN, you dont seem to be able to reply to comments there, or else in my befuddled state I cant see the way. I would like to know what settings she used for these small servers to improve connectivity?

dudes... first, I'm a 10.4.6 user and Carrafix still works for me! i test this little tool, seems works fine, but will be great some kind of "aqua-bar" or "meter" to show us their work (like CarraFix). A great implementation are UDP's protocols... Will be a "rock" application!

Excellent application. It works as advertised and since it runs in the background (unlike carrafix, which doesn't work anymore anyway) it's great to have around. Not to mention that it's the only program of its kind available for osx.
