iCal-Alarmist

1.3.0
25 February 2010

Batch edit iCal events/alarms, set attendees, notes, and more.

Overview

iCal-Alarmist... To summarize : Do a lot of things that you might be able to do manually quicker and in one go with iCal-Alarmist with a new interface with tabs. Create events and alarms with free intervals but without the need to set the event to repeating : Alarmist can set a number of fixed repeats now for individual events! Linked to your Address Book for easy access to Attendees.
  • Backup calendars to a fixed folder with dates.
  • Set Notes and Titles for recurring events with an alarm in one go.
  • Online version check for quicker response to iCal changes.
Alarmist is an easy and secure way to make sure that you have reminders for all the things in your calendars. When Alarmist opens it automatically lists all WRITE-enabled calendars in your ical. This is important because you should know that the so-called "birthday calendar" which you can enable in iCal's preferences, is NOT a real calendar at all and will therefore not show up in the list. It is a READ only text listing of birthdays in your address book. That is why you could never edit it or add alarms. But rest assured : Alarmist 1.3 can help here too. It will sync the birthdays from your Address-book to a calendar of your choice (f.i. my_birthdays)and it can automatically add alarms. This new version of Alarmist has a special TAB for that. And from there it's just a couple of clicks to a full sync. To summarize : Do a lot of things that you might be able to do manually quicker and in one go with iCal-Alarmist.

What's new in iCal-Alarmist

This can be done already by just clicking on the word "Alarm" in the sidebar and then select add alarm.

Looks that the product has been abandoned. I've tried it anyway in 10.8: not working.

Michael(Hoop2125)... of course you can set alarms in iCal. Since we don't have you as an actual customer in our database we presume you never really tried the full version with all the possibilities? We are wondering a bit how you seem to be able to set multiple alarms for a whole series of events from a SIDEbar in iCal? We have not been able to locate that function. Did you mean the EDIT window for each individual event? Hmmm...But that is exactly what Alarmist is about : Not having to open maybe hundreds of edit windows to set alarms! With Alarmist you can do that for a whole calendar, all events in one CLICK. Or just for selected events by keyword. Anyway : We wish you happy clicking and we invite you to give our new version 1.3 a look with a lot of new functionality including setting attendees for all events or for new events with their phone numbers grabbed automatically from the address book into the notes of the event. Comes in very handy. All the best for Hooperprinting! Fred Sarcler KNLG Support

iCal-alarmist is now tested under TIGER and works just fine. The GUI has been made more TIGER like as well.

We have not been testing this utility with Tiger yet, because much will depend on the underlying communication that iCal in Tiger allows. Thanks for the feedback. We will test it as soon as Tiger hits the market.

"Jibbe" - Nice comment... "Doesn't work with Tiger." Maybe you should wait until Tiger comes out. You're either a developer with a pre-build, or you stole a pre-build on p2p or Torrent. Either way, you should be using it. Don't bash a piece of software for not working with an unreleased OS. Some people.
