I can't get this to work. It says 'play iTunes to start' and when I play it nothing happens. Also it's listed as version 1.0 here but in the about box it says v0.1

Doesn't seem to know how to deal with a proxy firewall. Hangs indefinitely trying to log in. Pity, it's an interesting concept.

I think this is by far one of the best music recommendation tools. Yes, you need to join MusicMobs and upload your iTunes XML library, but Mobster does allow you to do that from the drawer. It's great to get on-the-fly recommendations when I'm thinking about it, and you can click on a link to go into the iTMS and get a preview to see if you like the recommendations. The slider for "hipster" to "mainstream" for filtering from popular matches to less popular matches is genius. I usually know the "mainstream" recommendations, but I love to find unknowns amongst the more "hipster" listings. Downsides? It can be a bit slow getting recommendations, and not all the icons are immediately obvious. When you change the hipster slider, Mobster locks the listing, (so it doesn't update if iTunes starts playing a new artist) but it wasn't obvious how to unlock at first. And the button for showing the MusicMobs "drawer" was totally non-obvious--an eject key? Otherwise, give it a spin!

It was a bit difficult to figure out at first, but once I registered on musicmobs and uploaded my music library XML page, I figured it out, and I must say... this thing is pretty nice! Helps find related music to whatever you're listening to at the time, and you can set it to do stuff like give you links to iTMS. Once you get past the learning curve, it's a great thing to have.
