Very easy to use, and should be included in Apples next OS, because it´s useful when working in other applications and you don´t want to leave that special application over iTunes to pause/skip a track. I use this with Growl - nice combination!!! And you can´t complain about a pricetag - bacause it´s free :-D Thanx!!!!

Needs a keyboard shortcut to make this fantastic. Still a great software.

What in the world happened to the keyboard shortcuts? Those were what made this controller great! Without them it's just a menubar clickathon. Please get us the shortcuts back!!!

As of today (23 Feb 2008) my main controller, GimmeSomeTune freezes with iTunes 7.6.1, so I started looking for an iTunes menu-controller. This free app does a great job at it.

Wonderful applet. I've just switched from iTunes to VLC though, and ByteController is the only thing I miss. Doesn't seem to be any way to contact the dev for request. What to do?

This app is a "must-have" for any iTunes user. It's kept in a nice not disturbing way in the menu-bar with the opportunity to only be visible when iTunes is running. A very nice feature is If you choose to have it load at "startup" or any way have it running while iTunes is not and press the hot-key for "play" it will open iTunes and play right away. That was just a key-press and you didn't even have to take your eyes of what you were doing in the first hand. It's very user-friendly, forget "mini-player-mode" or some widget - cause it doesn't get easier or more simple and fast than this. Indeed this app should be built in OS X.

I began using ByteCon .6 and it worked smoothly, as good as I could want. For the longest time, it was one of my startup items, when I was doing a lot of iTunes listening. Version .6 had only minor issues that never hurt the actual function (its buttons were at times inconsistent -- play-pause mode icons reversed). This is an EXCELLENT tool: simple, flexible (can pick from many looks), complements my tasks with ease when I am on two monitors and iTunes is hidden. No iTunes butting in my space, and no getting in the way of other menus!

Less is almost always more. I tried Synergy, but found it more than I needed. ByteController is a simple iTunes menu controller, and it does its job in a quiet, elegant manner. Blogged : http://www.apple-project.com

great software! however, one feature I'd like to see would be the abilty to choose between having the Rewind button go to the previous song, or going to the beginning of the current song before going to the previous song. other than that, this utility is excellent! Keep up the great work!

Wonderfully elegant, free and easily skinnable. I switched from Synergy to ByteController (lame name) and have no regrets.

Wow. ByteController is simple, well-placed, and aesthetically pleasing. A powerful tool, ByteController should be packaged with iTunes.

This little thing is the best program I have ever installed on my computer. I love it! A couple things I would like to see though. (I think some of these may have been mentioned by others) I would like it if I could turn on and off looping and shuffling, and it would also be awesome if I could cycle through my playlists using it. I love the way you have all the hotkeys and everything set up.. Beautifully simple. Don't make it too complicated! Keep up the good work.

Simplicity is beautiful. There aren't any buttons that pop-up on the screen or windows that drop down from the menu bar. I've tried FastTunes and TuneX, both becoming more of a nuisance than anything. If you like your music in the background, both in the musical and visual sense, ByteController is exactly what you need.

I had an older verin which provided you with song information and would open the program by simpling using hotkeys. The recent update I have gotten does neither. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Great program

A really good iTunes Controller. The only nuisance is that clicking on one of the buttons has the same behaviour as clicking on another Menu Item in as much as when you move your cursor over another item, you will still see the context menu. If you could stop it doing this, that would be great!!

Woohaa... AT LAST, sweet!! This little thing made my day.. Hot keys works great (just hold dovn the -button in the pref-menu) If anyone like me gets seriusly mad when you have to "klick away" just to kill iTunes. dedicate the Hot Keys to what ever button you like!!

Developer: You should look into using growl and growltunes http://sourceforge.net/projects/growl to create itunes bezels and you should consider making this a sourceforge project. here is a useful link on what growl is and a screenshot of growltunes http://www.funmac.com/showthread.php?t=7755&page=1&pp=15

It's developers like this one that make us know there still are good people in the world; that don't require to be paid for EVERY LAST THING THEY DO IN LIFE. Thanks guy-you are much appreciated :-) Sam

Nice, being free, and simple. I'd prefer to lose the tab outline, or offer a choice of having it or not. The arrows should be a darker shade, and there should be an option for quitting the menu altogether, and for loading at login. It is nice and simple, though!

nice, and thanks to the dev for making it free. but, i don't care for the tab silhouette, and i wish the 'buttons' were a bit blacker if not outright black, instead of grey. maybe lose the tab silhouette altogether? whatever.
