Replace iChat AV brushed metal with an Aqua UI.

Overview

Note: AquaChat AV is no longer under development, and it is no longer available for sale.

AquaChat AV, built on the same proven, critically-acclaimed technology as Safari Aquafier, allows you to easily replace iChat AV's ugly and depressing brushed metal interface with a bright and clean Aqua one in just seconds. If you don't like the change, AquaChat AV includes an easy removal tool that allows you to revert to the iChat AV's original appearance in a matter of seconds.

• DO NOT INSTALL THIS IF YOU ARE USING TIGER • I made the mistake of installing this on my mac running Tiger and it completely broke iChat. Fortunately I figured out how to fix the problem. If you look inside the iChat --> Resources folder you'll see that the folder 'English.Iproj' has been modified most recently. The fix is to simply replace this folder. Get someone you know with iChat running on Tiger and ask them to do the following: ctrl-click 'iChat' and select 'Show Package Contents'. Open the 'Resources' folder and copy the 'English.Iproj' folder. They can then mail this folder to you and you should replace the same folder in your 'iChat' app. Hope this helps. Tom.

if you are having trouble or getting errors just connect networks with your friends ask them to send ichat to your desktop and when it is finished loading click on it. then make a new account on your new ichat.

Please take this program off your website. It screwed up my computer and now I'm having to reset a lot of my system preferences just to get ichat to work again. This program must have been designed specifically to screw up ichat because it does a really good job of that.

This program is a nightmare. Totally messes up iChat, keep getting error messages even after unistalling AquaChat. Reinstalling iChat does not work either. Now what? Be smart and leave this one alone! If anyone has a solution please post here for all of us who ignored other reviews and installed Aquachat.

Grrrr.... I'm stuck even the restart did not solve my problem... here's the error I get from iChat: NSInvalidArgumentException: *** -[NSObject numberOfRowsInTableView:]: selector not recognized [self = 0x5ef0f0] I can't see my list or use my webcam.... basically can't use iChat... and it keeps sending back the same error msg!

You can achieve this same hint by opening the ( iChat.app/Contents/Resources/English/MainMenu.nib ) files in Interface Builder (Included with developer tools) and unchecking "Use Texture". I've no problem with an easy way of doing this for those that don't want to mess with the Dev Tools, but it's hardly a "Critically acclaimed" method, and it would be more impressive if it included replacement Aqua buttons, as the metal buttons don't look too hot on the qua window.

Great app Ichat looks a lot better in aqua as it is less "intrusive" which is what you want from a chat app Makes it look a lot more attractive and more inviting to chat great app - i just wish something could be made so that you can pick the apps, either from the installer or in a control panel to aquifer or not James
