RealZoom overview

RealZoom generates a somewhat realistic zoomed (close-up) image, as if you are taking a close look at your LCD, CRT screen, or paper with a magnifying glass. Available zoom types: RGB stripes, RGB dots, LCD, Trinitron (Aperture Grille), Shadow Mask, Video (interlace), Black Print (K=0 and 45 degrees), and Color Print (CMYK=0 and 63.4 degrees). I hope this is a useful image utility for graphic designers, graphic artists, and for anyone to help understand how images are reproduced on LCD, CRT, and paper.

RealZoom generates a TIFF bitmap image file while RealZoom Quartz generates a vector-based PDF image file.

Note: RealZoom generates a very large image when the magnification is high (e.g. 6x, 9x, 12x, etc.), and the system may not be able to handle a very large image properly. Please make sure to select a portion of (or scale down) your large image and save a smaller image with your image editing application such as Photoshop, then load the small image with RealZoom.

please use it with caution. RealZoom is not a viewer and it currently does not have a preview feature to view a small portion of the original image. it's a tool to generate a zoomed image. if you load a large image to generate an even larger zoomed image, Mac OS itself (not the app) could choke.

I like the initial idea of this program. However, the implementation is horrible. * the various filters process the ENTIRE image, thusly causing it to take forever * the image processing took so much CPU for a 9x filter that the system was unresponsive to cmd-opt-del (the force quit combo), causing me to force restart rather than wait * the registration nag screen comes up incessantly, very annoying * overall interface could be cleaned up a bit, feels a bit thrown-about * it doesn't have an option to "RealZoom" an actual portion of the screen, major drawback If the author would optimize the program to use block processing and only process what is going to be visible to the user, then the program would actually be usable.

This is the greatest ... i have ever seen and that for 10$? Who are you kidding? For everybody: do not buy this app, if you want zoom use /Developer/Applications/Graphics Tools/Pixie.app! This comes with Tiger when you install the Developer Tools (Xcode).
