FastPitch is an auto tuner for Mac OS X. Play or sing a tone and FastPitch will tell you what musical note it is and whether that note is in tune or not. FastPitch is compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 and 10.3 (Jaguar and Panther).

Arrrgg. This app sounds neat but it completely ERASED my prefs folder. I have no idea what this app was trying to write when it did it but the moment I started it, there went all my prefs for ALL my programs. All my serials, registrations, settings for everything on my computer are now all gone. I would definitely not recommend this program until this is fixed. A horrible mistake.

Erases your preferences?!? Are you sure you didn't do something else to cause this? I doubt that this application would(could?) do this. No one else has mentioned this behavior in the reviews and my experience with the application has been fine. It created a plist named "com.purplee.FastPitch.plist"... but it definitely DID NOT erase my prefs. Perhaps you should contact the developer if you really think this is true. Personally, I doubt it.

I was excited when i first saw this app, the only thing is when i opened "freaky tuner" by "freak software" and i got that to play a note, fastpitch said the note was sharp, which didnt make much sense, that could just be me tho. Nice app when it works :)

I tried Freaky Tuner too and it looks like it really depends on which instrument you choose as to how in-tune it is. This pretty much matches what you would find in real life, though.

First of all, let me give thanks to the developer for -finally- bringing a bringing an instrument tuner to OS X with a real acoustic input! For the product: Tested with my iBook built-in mike, the tuner is a little too sensitive for my acoustic guitar. It's true that some instruments have complex harmonics that may confuse FastPitch, but they don't seem to bother my 8 dollar Korg tuner nearly as much. Unfortunately, I don't have an audio-in jack so I can't tell if the situation would improve with a direct connection. I hope that the next version of FastPitch will have some sort of sensitivity control to smooth out the "jumpiness" of the needle, as many professional tuners do. Otherwise, this is a great, easy-to-use product, and the frequency meters are a nice touch. Hope to see the refinement of this application.
