Scroll more smoothly, more quickly, and more comfortably.

  • Hover Scroll: just hover the cursor near the top or bottom of a window and relax, no need to keep scrolling.
  • Auto Scroll: read more comfortably with automatic, hands-free scrolling.
  • Grab Scroll: the best way to scroll with a graphics tablet or regular mouse.
  • Scroll Keys: scroll from the keyboard with the same keys in all applications.
  • Vector Scroll: popular with Windows and Firefox users, now available for all Mac apps.

Improves even the latest trackpads and mice! Other features include trackpad and scroll-wheel acceleration, and more.

Smart Scroll remains the best software that allows you to naturally grab, drag'n drop/scroll with a tablet and a stylus. To become perfect, it would take two things: - that it is less CPU-intensive; - that the Smooth Scroll option has the same scrolling fluidity as MOS.

I sometimes wonder how much software engineering has been put into this tiny software to make it run flawlessly with all the available hardware on the market. Add to this the variety of all other software that perform in the background and need tweaking to eradicate compatibility issues and, to top it all, consider all changes that Apple makes to its operating systems with each release. And yet, this small pearl has always kept its pace with the new changes and has never let me down. I can’t even remember when I paid for my last update fee. Unlike some other developers I don’t even need to pay for a subscription to benefit from its latest developments. The developer has always been courteous and generally answers my emails in a matter of hours should any issue happen. Years of continuous use has proved to me that it’s the best scrolling application for the Mac and surely second to none. I highly recommend it. Fariborz AMIRSHAHI - Verona (Italy)

When I restart or log out/in to my computer, version 4.4.8 will not automatically work. I have to go into System Preferences to manually switch on Smart Scroll. Same with version 4.4.7, so back to 4.4.6

4.4.7 refuses to work on my Mac running 10.14.6. It just won't start up. I followed all the instructions to the letter, and still Smart Scroll refuses to run. I have reinstalled version 4.4.6, which works.

Thanks for your feedback, fleur2metaline-1. Smart Scroll uses CPU when you move the cursor, to know which application is in use, so it can apply your settings for that application. Also for Hover Scroll. When you are not moving the cursor, it uses 0 - 0.1 CPU. I'm planning a new scrolling method, if I manage to get it to work.

Marc has always been punctual with updates when a new system is released but this time, he has even anticipated it. Thanks! This clearly shows his immense care and interest for all users who like me can’t live without this invaluable utility. If Smart Scroll doesn't open at login, or doesn't start, drag the helper application to the list of Login Items, in Users & Groups in System Preferences. Also drag it to the Privacy /Accessibility list, if needed. You can access the helper application by clicking on the ˇ sign on the upper right corner of the main Smart Scroll window.

This is odd. Yesterday when I downloaded the corrected version 4.4.3 it functioned properly. Now today it's no longer functioning with Saffari 12.1. I had to return to the previous version. Any explanation from Marc?!

If you download Smart Scroll 4.4.3 again, I expect it will work now. The latest Safari update broke the fix I had just made, but I found another better one. It will be listed in the next version of Smart Scroll, but this way you can get it without waiting. Thanks for letting me know about this problem!

To the developer: Hello Marc. Please note that the latest version doesn't run on Saffari 12.1 (14607.1.40.1.4). I had to restore the old version and now it functions flawlessly. Thanks for your kind attention. All the best. Fariborz AMIRSHAHI (Verona - Italy)

Hello again Marc, I regret to say that the new version I just commented about works fine with Safari, but is broken on all other applications on my iMac! None of them function any more! I had to restore SmartScroll to the previous version to return to normality. I don’t know if it’s my mouse (Logitech - Performance MX) or there’s another issue. If any other SmartScroll user experiences these problems, then please let us know. Thanks.

Hello Marc. It’s in fact very bizzarre but unfortunately that’s what’s happening on my iMac. I was also expecting to hear someone else reporting this but until now no one has done it. I therefore stick to the previous version which functions flawlessly. Thanks for your kind investigation into this matter. Cheers.

I’m glad that you realized I was not imagining! Whatever the cause it’s now over. Thank you again for your priceless support of this gorgeous utility. Cheers and all the best.

I am a fan of Smart Scroll. However, with this version 4.4.3, it does not work with Safari 10.1.2. I tried it on two different machines, both with Mac OS 10.5.5 (yose). I restarted the Macs and restarted Safari but nothing helped. I went back to V 4.4.2 and that works smoothly and perfectly!
