RSS news dockling.

Overview

MulleNewz is a dockling which allows you to stay in touch with the world via the OSX dock! It is an easy to configure RSS reader which means that it can access a lot of popular sites that offer RSS content - at once! Just click on the headline you're interested in and MulleNewz will open your preferred browser and direct it to the URL containing the whole story.

MacUpdate's Mac OS X new releases RSS feed is at:

Looked promising until I deleted all the default feeds and added 2 of my own. Now it wont even give me a menu. I've deleted the prefs but nothing works. Also MAC OS warned me that it may not work in my dock.

I've never had a single problem with MulleNewz. It was smooth through 10.2.6 to 10.2.8, is a cinch to update/modify, and has never once crashed. There aren't a lot of options. Just go to the title of the feed, and check the titles of the site's default number of posts. I got the same warning everyone said about the potential Dock incompatibility, which I assume is a CYA message from Apple. It was no problem. My only complaint is that it is sometimes unresponsive on my overworked iBook, but it's still very handy. Oh, and it has found a couple sites that it doesn't like the format of the feed, and won't update. But the whole RSS format is a separate discussion. A previous poster mentioned SlashDock: I think it only gets RSS from Slashdot.org. If so, it's not a comparable product. Also, when I tried Slashdock, it was nag-ware.

Hmmm. Launched it and got a warning about this app possibly not being compatible with the version of OS X I am running (10.2.6). So, anybody heard of SlashDock? Been doing what MulleNews does for longer and doing it better.
