iMops overview

iMops is a full-featured, stand-alone development environment for programming the Mac.

Features:
  • Based on Forth with extended object-oriented features
  • Interactive development environment provides for fluid and productive programming by allowing quick testing and modification of small code segments
  • Comes with a large class library supporting many Smalltalk-like classes
  • Seamless integration of Macintosh Toolbox calls
  • Supports AltiVec and external frameworks such as OpenGL and Mach-O
  • Carbon-compliant

What’s new in version 2.23

Bugs fixed:
  • The limit check of method “SELECT:” in class “(list)” was wrong.
  • “SelectLast:” method of “(list)” class was wrong.
  • iMops crashed on launch on macOS 12 Monterey.
  • The Character Strings on “Install” and “Build Library” dialogs were not drawn since MacOSX 10.11 (excuse me).
  • One line comment by \ (back slash) sometimes caused trouble.
New functionalities:
  • “ReleaseAll:” method of “PTR_LIST” class is defined, supposing all pointer items are heap pointers allocated through malloc().
  • FixedText Class is defined, which would be useful when you want to draw some fixed text (character strings or sentences) on a window.

Very nice. Very Nice. I feel bad for the developer , who had such a smart mind all his life, but had his name made fun of constantly...He is not a prostitute! He is a genius!

Mops is a great way to learn programming. It's a little overshadowed by XCode, but it's one of those languages which can help you pick things up much more quickly than C. Recommended.

It's fast. Really fast. I usually don't like OOP, but this one's fun. Actually, the only thing I can see "wrong" with it right now is the manual, which is well-written but dated. I think they'll get this one down, though. They also underplay the value of the included source, which is just like documentation in its own right. It's refreshingly easy to read, and you will be missing out on a lot if you decide to overlook it. Keep up the great work!
