I've been trying to find a keystroke saving program for the Mac OS X for a long time unsuccessfully. So, i am happy to find this one. It's very easy to use and it does what it says it does. So, I'm glad to find it. The only other program like this that I used was Now Save, from the Now Utilities suite, discontinued many years ago. It was more elegant and and elaborate, it worked extremely well. so, i'm spoiled and have high expectations. Keyboard Spy sometimes misses a keystroke, and for spaces and backspaces, it records a box shaped symbol, which means that the finished copy that it saves is not immediately usable. You have to work to reonstruct the file. The old Now Save program which works on all pre OS X systems, didn't record backspaces and spaces, and the saved work was in a form that could be immediately used to replace lost work without much editing. So, compared to Now Save, Keyboard Spy could improve, for my purposes, by not missing keystrokes, by not recording any symbols for spaces, and also, by formatting the saved file in a more readable form (the text runs far past the end of the page on the right so that you have to scroll over to see it. But other than that, i'm happy with it. It works well so far.

haven't tried this new version, but tried earlier ones, and other apps too, and the best I came across was backtrack. I even parted with the money after 10 mins use, which is unheard of for a stingy old bugger like me. On top of that, I contacted the author with some suggestions, and within a day, almost each time, they were implemented. Awesome. it doesn't record backspaces as characters, and best of all, separates the log files into which application the text was written to. Try it, it's cool. This info is not to detract from this app, but make people aware of other similar apps.
