I tried this BASIC interpreter a couple of years ago and I liked it OK. I read that if you used a certain editor you could get rid of the line numbers (hate ‘em). I recall getting that editor but I could not get it to run without line numbers. All you who are so enthusiastic about Chipmunk BASIC, have you gotten rid of line numbers, and if so, how???

A longtime friend. Much like Applesoft BASIC, but with some cool additional features. I was able to write a raster to HPGL converter using it. Works great. If Chipmunk BASIC crashes upon launch, check the "Use Rosetta" box in the Get Info box.

I've been aware of Chipmonk Basic for years, but I've only just started really playing with it. As a computer geek whose programming skills began and ended with the Apple IIe, Chipmonk Basic is a wonderful (re)introduction to the art. Plus, given the range of Macs it will run on (1980's-era vintage gear through today's Intel powerhouses), anyone with a Mac can play with it. This is a great example of what makes Mac shareware so much fun! My only suggestion would be to possibly bundle in some example files with the software.

The GUI tool works very nicely and it reminds me of VAX BASIC from the good old days. However... The first universal release command line tool worked fine for me, but the subsequent releases complain that: dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.6.dylib Referenced from: /usr/bin/basic Reason: image not found Trace/BPT trap Indicating that maybe my X11 is out of synch or the developer's machine is different.

As a previous Apple II Basic fan, I've loved this program for years. Around the year 2000, I was a admin for the now defunct xoom.com. I used Chipmunk Basic to scour the logs for TOS offenders, generate clickable hot links to these sites and automatically delete them, if desired. The program enabled me to delete more TOS offenders than 8 other people added up that were attempting this chore manually. My job was generally over in 10 mins and they had to work all day. Thanks again.

I've been looking for something like this to come along. For me, it's useful when my trusty calculator just won't cut it. As in, quickly building a lookup table used in software for a microcontroller for a temperature sensor using a formula given in the specs for the sensor. Yeah, I could use REALbasic. But by the time I set it up and got my program going I would already be done using this app. I like it. It seems to do what it does quite nicely. Thanks for making it a freebie Ron.

I used ChipmunkBASIC on my old SE/30 10 years back. It never had any obvious bugs. It's perfect to learn how to program and plan how an application or a method should do things. This is seriously some ol' school stuff. ;) THANKS!

If you just can't stand learning a modern programming language, and you have no use for a nice GUI, then Chipmunk is probably for you. Otherwise pass this one up and get something designed for the 20th Century.

What crack you smoking? you cannot begin to compair this with realbasic... can this thing even do 1/3 the things RB can do? i dont even see a interface for this thing, you might as well learn C then use this. Maybe it fits some peoples needs, but not mine.

I haven't yet tested this new version, but I would really have use for a graphical command which finds out what color a point in GRAPHICS window represents: colortest x,y As a return this command would give three values (RGB), so that I could use it like this: IF colortest x,y = 100,20,100 THEN Alex
