Cyclone is a text converting utility application for the Macintosh that uses Apple Text Encoding Converter. Features include:
  • Macintosh, Unicode, ISO, DOS, Windows, and other encodings
  • Unlimited size of converted files
  • Multiple file conversions
  • Clipboard conversion
  • Runs native on Mac OS X (Carbon version)
  • Nice speed (thanks to Apple TEC)

What's New
Version 1.6b1 adds the following:
  • Major rewrite for Mac OS X using PowerPlant X. Based on native Mac OS X technologies: Mach-O, Carbon Events, nib resources.
  • Long filenames support.
  • Source code opened.
  • Mac OS 10.3 Panther support.
  • Version 1.6b1 is based on new an untested code. Therefore version 1.5.3 based on old sources but bringing Panther compatibility is released concurrently. Use beta version with caution.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Converts character sets. to and from Unicode/Win CP and Mac character sets.
Useful for language translations from Word (unicode standard) to FileMaker Pro (Win CP standards), replacing Windows' own text handling tools which substitute unknown characters with ?s
