Not the prettiest UI out there, and definitely not the easiest app to use, but it works! Once you remember to right-click and look for hidden context menus :)

Although a little hard to figure out, it DOES work and is also FREE!

One of the few FREE file recovery tools for Mac (if not the only one).

My wife accidentally deleted all photos from SD card (1GB) and I was looking for inexpensive way to recover those files.

Lazesoft Mac Data Recovery did the job. User interface could be improved A LOT, but hey - I didn't pay for it, so I will not complain.

Doesn't work. I used it to scan an external 1TB USB 2.0 drive mounted on a Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard with lots of available RAM. It never got past about 11% complete on the progress bar, instead constantly returning to 0% and starting over again. I quit after it was running for about 3.5 hours having gotten nowhere.

I had an experience similar to Dorkypants. I selected to Recover 'Files', not a ‘Partition.’ The first scan got up to around 84%, but then started over. So after having read Dorkypants' experience, I stopped it at 1% on the 'new' scan, in the fear it would overwrite whatever files info had already been acquired. Then on the left side of the Mac Data Recovery program window on the ‘Path’ tab, after a few minutes at the bottom I noticed a 'Lost Files' folder. That is where the recovered file folders are listed, by file type. I clicked on the ‘jpg’ folder in there, highlighted all the .jpg files that were then shown on the right part of the program window (I can’t remember how I selected them all, though) and then saved them to another HDD. So the program does work, but it really does seem to restart the scan sometimes for an unknown reason. My Mac is a 2.0GHz Mac Mini with almost 4GB of memory, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Thanks and I hope this info is of use. ; )
