This is a good-looking app with a very responsive developer! I had a few questions about its operation before my purchase. I emailed the developer using the link on the "Cloud Clip Support" page and received a reply within a few hours.

Operational details:

When you launch Cloud Clip for the first time a very helpful tutorial window opens. Going thru the five pages of the tutorial gets you going quickly.

Clippings can be "starred" to indicate importance, which affects the sort order of clippings when displayed on the "Starred" tab. The number of clippings saved can be set from 10 up to unlimited - not bad! When you hover your mouse cursor over a clipping, a small window appears with some handy buttons to easily delete a clip, paste it as plain text, "star" it, preview it, or share it via email, facebook, twitter, or the "Messages" service.

Of course, Cloud Clip can optionally sync to iDevices using iCloud. There's a companion app that runs on iOS v6+ which you can get from the iTunes store for $0.99.

Cloud Clip can be customized via its Preferences. It can appear in the menubar, the dock, both or neither. The "hotkey" can be customized.

As of this writing, Cloud Clip is at version 1.0, so there are bound to be a few rough edges. I like being able to have the clippings window appear near the mouse cursor, an option available on a few other clipping apps. With Cloud Clip, the clippings window will appear below the menubar icon or (if you allow the app to appear in the dock) the last location you dragged it to. Not a big deal, but the developer has assured me that this feature will be added.

Summary:

This app has a lot of promise. I have yet to encounter any bugs other than minor quibbles and the developer appears to be very helpful and responsive. He's clearly interested in building a devoted user base and he's off to a good start.

I'm always looking for a better clipboard app, and at $3.99 this one was a no-brainer!
