Just upgraded to X8 from 2013 version - love the new interface! I trust Intego more than the others because they have the best malware detection rate and focus on building great software specifically for Mac.

What I like:

- Personal Backup
- Washing Machine utility
- Anti-Virus (best detection rate)
- Two-way firewall

What features would be nice to have:

- Ad blocking
- Anti-vandal
- File encryption

In terms of anti-virus and firewall, Intego is the best for Macs.

I can't recommend any software that charges full price for a one year update. I despise companies like this one and Adobe that "lease" their software. Otherwise it's the best virus program I've used on my iMac, although it slows my MacBook down a bit.

In installed Integro in a Mountain Lion virtual machine running under Parallels, just to test it out. I can confirm other reports posted here that after a time, the running image slowed down tremendously. Before you assume it's because it was a VM, please note that I routinely run VMs on my machine (which as 16GB of RAM), both OS X and Windows, and for the most part, image run with no perceptable degradation, i.e. they run as if they were host operating system running.

Another comment, I would take the review by @raymondb with a grain of salt. Look at his profile, he has only posted reviews of Integro products, ALL of them, and no other products of any other company, they were all posted on the same date, and they were all glowing five star reviews of each Integro product in the suite. Just sayin'...

I loved to use Netbarrier and Virusbarrier until version x6. Lastly Intego split up back Virusbarrier into Virusbarrier and Netbarrier and called the package Internet Security Premium 2013. With this Intego radically cut back the versatility and the attributes that were so important: fine tuning and manual configuration.
Now especially Netbarrier is not more than a tool for keeping things simple. But the life (and the internet) is by far not as simple. To make things worse both Virusbarrier and Netbarrier need a lot of memory and cpu-load.
Conclusion: I am now looking for alternatives.

I just want to say that I updated from the previous version. I love this! It identified and removed flash malware. I did not download it, it came as a pop up and downloaded itself. It was so annoying. Either way, the software runs much less resources. I hope they add a log, but otherwise, I love it!! Ill continue updating! And btw the way, no I dont work there. I just graduated college, im going back shortly. This is my .2Cents.

I use Intego and highly recommend it! This is the 'gold standard' in Mac security software.

I've used Intego's Suite for some time, and jumped at the latest version. The new version is cleaner and better looking. A lot of nice features including a 2 way fire wall, setting the features based on location, etc.

Using X6 version my computer sometimes would run slow and hot. Using Activity Monitor I'd find a "virusvarriers" taking 100% CPU. Only 1 would be in this state, there would be several to many others running just fine. I'd kill the process with Activity Monitor and things would return to normal, although often another of the processes would then start taking 100% CPU.

The 2013 version did not do this. Instead of a slow, barely usable MacBook Pro I'd get a spinning beach ball of death. Often everything would stop working and more and more programs developed the SBBD sequentially. I could not start Activity Monitor, and usually I could not even restart my computer. I'd have to power off, sometimes resulting in damaged files on the Hard Drive (thank goodness for Disk Warrior).

I started looking in the Console logs after rebooting. Usually there would be application after application listed with a message that Virus Barrier had blocked it for 60 seconds for suspicious activity. I dealt with Customer Services for 3 months and finally asked for and received a refund.

Have you noticed an improvement in their software? I've been running their demo for awhile and it seems to be fine. I want the 2-way functionality of Netbarrier. I had the previous version of Little Snitch but it is only for outgoing connections.

In the strongest terms possible I urge everyone to avoid Intego's products like the plague. At a prior MacUpdate Promo I purchased VirusBarrier for both my macbook pro and my wife's. This was about 9 months or so, ago, a very recent version. Everything was fine for a few weeks, and then trouble hit. Her computer would randomly start running so slowly it was like it had no available RAM, then the same thing happened to mine. Got so bad that my laptop became unusable. Took it to the Genius Bar and we tried everything. Replaced the hard drive, the logic board, the hard drive cable (thank God this was all under warranty), same behavior. They finally concluded it was a software problem. I was finally able to boot the machine up to where I could uninstall this software, and instantly my machine was fine. Did the same with my wife's and instantly her machine was fine as well. No more issues.

Their stuff is just horrible and I will never, ever, put another product from Intego on my computer and I encourage all others to adopt the same philosophy. This is crapware.

FYI, when I finally realized it might be this stuff, I mentioned it to the guy at the Genius Bar and he just rolled his eyes and said "why do you have this junk on your computer? Get it off, we see a LOT of problems with their software."

Pretty good.

This was a little disconcerting when upgrading to the 2013 bundle from X6.

X6 had more controls that you didn't know what to do with & the new version is dumbed down, or simplified, with 3 primary classes of use: home, work & public. That seems like a good thing. There are ways to fine tune those, but I'm not sure they're as capable as X6 & I find no way to create intermediate configurations.

Appears to have at least some functionality reminiscent of Little Snitch.

Working well. I can't be sure what I'm looking at! Items such as blocking all cookies & hide identity online aren't evident anywhere.

The upgrade does nor include "Identity Scrubber" as part of the package, apparently that's for new purchases only.

They've re-split Netbarrier & VirusBarrier into separately paned & controlled applications, which makes that easier.

Previously as administrator in X6 you could turn on & off all traffic. No way (that I've found) to turn off internet connections when the machine should be idle as part of the new 2013 bundle.

That can be handled by creating a "Location" set under the Apple menu that is set to No Connection, disabling all traffic.

Clarification on Connections:

What I said above is wrong - you can turn on & off incoming & outgoing connections from the NetBarrier pane, which prompts you for a password.
