I've seen a nicely sorted Launchpad scrambled by either adding a new app or taking an update. So I'm not inclined to share Traum's criticism of this app. It only claims to sort out your layout, not to protect is from the OS. The ability of this app to store a layout should overcome this problem.
I found the app easy to learn. The sort on the pro version is well worth the money, as is the folder rename.
Unlike many third party apps, this one really does work with Mavericks.

Works Perfectly. Why Apple didn't make it like this out of the box i'll never know but that is how Launchpad should be...Organised, Quick and Beautiful. Great work!

Regretting giving it such a good review as my launchpad keeps on reverting to how it was before I installed launchpad manager. Keeps on adding items I deleted by itself and adding extra pages so doesn't really work unfortunately - using 10.8.4

Darn. Launchpad Manager was great in Lion, but since upgrading to Mountain Lion, it now crashes every time. Oh, and the upgrade to ML also wiped out all my careful organization (using LPM) to limit what showed up in Launchpad to only 4 pages. Now, I have maybe 15 pages. That problem is not the developer's fault, but I hope the crashing is fixed soon. Actually LPM should not even be necessary. Some better form of organization should have been included in the OS.

Works fine with mountain lion but then launchpad reverts to how it was and re-adds some things I don't want in my launchpad and adds extra pages

The free version does nothing helpful. There's SELECT All, DESELECT ALL, CREATE A PAGE, MOVE TO PAGE. Does the developer think we"re stupid? A rock is free too. You can't even put the apps in alphabetical order automatically.

The author is giving you a chance to use many helpful features. If you want the complete set they want you to pay to support it's developement. I think that's quite fair.

Foto555, did u not read my post? The free app essentially has no useful features unless u pay for it. If you disagree, then list the "useful" features. LPM just a gimmick to get people to download it so that maybe later someone will buy it.

Incidentally, the free App LaunchPad-Control that I found today will at least sort your apps alphabetically, which is quite time-saving if you have hundreds of apps.

I find the App's Free feature, ie; it's ability to move apps to another page, it's MOST useful feature for me. Your preferences may differ.

With respect to Foto555's comment regarding moving apps to another page, that is already a built-in aspect of Launchpad. Activate Launchpad, click and hold on any App icon until they begin to jiggle, just like iOS, and then drag the app to whatever page you choose.

You use a free version and think it only have simple operations. If you really wat to use its useful feature, please purchase a license for the Pro version.

I could vouch for this app. Been using it for the past week and have not found any issues. The hidden icons or even folders stay hidden! :D The best feature would be sorting the icons alphabetically, per page or as a whole.

This is the first easy-to-use, visual way to manage Launchpad that I've found. Apple should have included something like this with OS X.

FYI: Launchpad Manager will sometimes lose apps when moved from one page to another, so apply changes frequently. Even better, use LM to remove apps from Launchpad, and then move them around within Launchpad itself rather than in LM.
