Note, the codecs are Intel-only.

As people have already stated, you can install these codecs whether you have FCP et al or not. They can be extracted from the package file with Pacifist or UnPkg, and then moved to /Library/QuickTime .

I corrected the architecture information. Thanks for pointing it out.

No need for unpackage apps, per se. Mount the .dmg, copy ProAppsQTCodecs.pkg to somewhere else (Downloads, Desktop), right-click, open with The Unarchiver (OK, so I did use another app..), navigate into the extracted folder, right-click embedded ProAppsQTCodecs.pkg file, show package contents, right-click embedded Payload file, open with Archive Utility, navigate into created folder Library/QuickTime, copy codec files to ~/Library/QuickTime

Note: There's no point d/ling this if you don't have FCPX - it won't install the codecs unless it detects FCPX on your system first.

Check out an app called Pacifist. I promise you will change your mind about this pointless download.

The developer clearly says above in his description:

"This update is recommended for all users of Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, or Compressor 4."

Duh?

This update allowed me to view DV files in quicktime without those apps installed. I did install Pacifist though.
