Love GrowlVoice, but it has one glaringly absent feature that Google Voice offers when it's accessed with a browser: It cannot RECEIVE calls. With straight Google Voice, as long as the dialpad is displayed I can receive calls. Though its other features would make it a must-have app were it free, as long as it fails to match the main features of the free Google Voice, I could never consider buying it.
My brother has GrowlVoice, and I like it. But the one thing keeping me from buying it is that the menu bar icon is not positionable. I use XMenu and iStat Menus on my 13" Unibody MacBook, and along with the wi-fi status icon, they use up 2/3 of the menu bar (starting from the right side), leaving only 1/3 free on the left side. But, of course, any open app uses up that left-most 1/3 (and sometimes more), so GrowlVoice's menu bar icon disappears any time an app is open, meaning that I have to click the desktop whenever I want to access GV's icon — very annoying. If we could place the GV icon wherever we want along the menu bar then I could place it somewhere on the right, ensuring that it will always be visible. Until that's possible, I can't consider buying GrowlVoice, despite that I'd really like to.
The new 1.6 update makes responding to new messages so much easier! The app is a little bit pricey for a free service but the easy accessibility it offers is worth it.
The new 1.6 update brought a new bug. The inbox does not load at all when the app is launched. I have to log out and log in in order to for the inbox to show. I have to repeat this every time GrowlVoice is launched!
how many $3 apps are there in the iTunes store? And how many have demo or trial versions. I know there are some iOS apps that have "lite" or ad-supported versions, but we're talking 3 bucks here. BTW, I use GrowlVoice daily and recommend it highly. The developer offers frequent updates and bug fixes.
I'm using version 1.6.1 and none of my contacts photos appear in the inbox. Also 'show time on mouseover' was working earlier, although it doesn't seem to be working now. I've signed out, refreshed, etc. but it's still not working.

GrowlVoice is a lightweight menubar app that links securely with your Google Voice account to notify you and allow you to respond to new text messages, voicemails, and missed calls.
GrowlVoice can either notify you through Growl (http://www.growl.info), or through "basic" notifications that require no third party software. To reply to a notification, just click it.
If you have unread messages, GrowlVoice displays the count succinctly within its icon in your menubar.
In GrowlVoice's drop down menu, you can view the unread count for your inbox, texts, voicemails, and missed calls. Clicking on one of them will take you to the respective Google Voice inbox in your browser.
A Google Voice account is required to use this app.
To ensure that GrowlVoice is able to alert you of missed calls, enable "Place missed calls in the inbox" in the "Calls" tab in your Google Voice settings.

Go to the MAS and read the reviews. If you don't need the Growl-Push workflow, then use the GV Connect Widget. $3 is a steal for this.
Downside: No multiple accounts, but then Google kind of discourages multiple accounts from the same IP.
