HelTweetica is a bare bones Twitter client. It supports search and lists, user pages and the Conversation pages.

Instagram thumbnails now displayed in Tweets.
You can now decide which accounts update automatically.
Select your favorite image service for uploads - yFrog, TwitPic, TwitGoo, img.ly, or Posterous.
Select your favorite URL shortener - TinyURL, Linkyy, or is.gd.
Fixed an issue where the wrong tweet was retweeted.
Fixed an issue where the wrong tweets would be shown in conversation view.

Unfortunately, HelTweetica seems to be gone for good.

I really liked it because of its excellent support for multiple Twitter accounts (and the interface was very nice, too).

Any suggestions what software to use instead? (Multiple accounts and ease of use are my top priorities.)

But now ONLY in the MAS. For the life of me I cannot see why the devs don't have it available on their website anymore - all their other apps can be downloaded from their home base. After all, it's not as if they make money from a free app by using the MAS, but will make it so much harder for people without access (for various legit reasons) to keep up to date. Pity. I'll have to hunt around for an alternative download link and could end up somewhere I'd rather not be.

Now the app isn't even in the MAS. The developer pulled it back in July.

Strange to see an app here in MacUpdate that is not downloadable anymore. Either should it be downloadable from their website or from App Store, or it should be removed from MacUpdate.

you've got the right idea here, but OAuth is gonna have to be added pretty soon to keep in line with Twitter's api changes.

other things I'd like to see;

url shrinking support
keyboard navigation of the timeline
viewing of followers and following in profile pages

The actual version is Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard only. No PPC Support anymore!

@HelTweetica pls update at least the data on MacUpdate (and a download link for PPC Macs would be nice)
