A properly written App should not freeze when it is busy. It should update the user on what it is doing. I will try this promising app again when the developer has fixed this issue.

One unresolved question is what to do when Singlemizer doesn't move files to the trash because "you don't have necessary permissions." Permissions for what? I believe I had proper permissions for all of the files that remained (most of which were Mail documents), but resorted to deleting them one by one. A strange anomaly.
I'm sorry we non-Lion users can benefit by the most recent upgrade. I hope it's the last time.

This created a new set of problems, not unmanageable but tedious to fix. There should be a way to deal with permissions in Singlemizer or with a third-party app like BatChmod that meets the application's needs without redoing hundreds of files (or more).

I felt something bad for that kind of selling system by seeing different versions both on maker's web site and Apple's.
Thanks for your advice, you saved me 19 bucks!

(I do see version 3 in the Mac App Store, I just can't update. The developer does offer through his website trial-downloads of both the new version 3, and the older version 2. Version 2 is for Snow Leopard, and version 3 is, sadly, Lion-only).

Version 3.0.0 is already available on the Mac App Store as well as at our own store. The delay was caused by the long review process. We made the new version available for the purchase through our site while the new build was just submitted to the Apple. I believe there is no reason to synchronize both releases.

This doesn't mean it's perfect. So that you know what to expect, these are my gripes (not show stoppers, mind you, otherwise this wouldn't rate it four stars):
1) Singlemizer is not exactly easy to use, unless you know answers to "what is the UTI for a jpeg image", for example (???? - that's what I thought). A few more sliders and popup lists would be helpful.
2) Singlemizer is not fully keyboard controllable (setting the delete checkmark on individual files still needs the mouse).
3) Singlemizer compares files only. There's no option to compare contents of folders and delete the folder only if it's exactly the same as another folder. Or, if there is such an option, I have no idea how to use it.
4) For every file, the console logs "file access by '/rsrc' was deprecated in 10.4". I'm thinking scanning would be faster without that warning.
But overall, the price is right and it surely beats some of the other options I've tried, especially when comparing a large number of files (10,000 or more).

Please, forgive my silly analogy and the silly name of the software. This is really nice software.
