Using a version earlier than the current one, this program caused me to lose all my photos from 2002-2008. The program hung so I forced quit it and then found the photos gone. I have all my photos backed up, so it wasn't a problem, but just saying be careful with this one. I don't think a photo viewing app should ever be able to cause data loss like that.

I would love to say impossible - but with a computer nothing is impossible. So please get in touch - because it is unbelievable - the app has nothing to do with the file system itself - I need to know what you did while this 'happened' - the app can't delete all your folders only because of a crash (or anything else)

Thanks, Michael.

myPhotos is such a great idea. Get away with the chrome and focus on your content. Who wants to see fancy interface stuff, too much and too colorful buttons? In my opinion these are only good for distraction and it's just a relief that myPhotos has such a dramatically improved, polished and straight forward simple interface that's nice too look at, but also powerful.

I think the application could be a little bit more stable, but it's just a beta right and you all know what beta means, right? I hope (and believe) that the developer will fix a couple of stability glitches, but everything else is just fine. I don't want a feature bloat, I can get this already with iPhoto or another applications.

I'm a heavy user of this application since the developer released the first beta. I use it on a day to day basis and I'm already very positive about the current version and future development plans.

This is a wonderful app if all you want is take a quick look at your pictures.

It shows my pictures fast, really fast. Ok, super fast. Period.

Some of the former posts point out, that there is freeware that can replace myPhotos:
It's the old adage "You get what you paid for." Personally I pay attention how I spend my money. Since I am a developer by myself, I know how much time it takes to create something like myPhotos and I LOVE to show my appreciation to that guy by paying for the app once it is released.
At the current beta state it is fair to give feedback on the features, but unfair to complain a future pricing.

This is the fastest way to VIEW my images. It is by far faster than iPhoto.
Most of the time myPhotos has all that it takes to find an image and grab it to use it. If I have to do more sophisticated stuff I switch to iPhoto.
Bottom line: Everything I need on a daily basis is speed and myPhotos is very speedy!

Nice low profile viewer but it's not a photo organiser. The tags it applies are only file comments and spotlight based and it doesn't write to any photo standard metadata - like Exif or IPTC. This Photo Standard metadata is cross platform and basic for any photo application. Add that ability and you may have something, right now it's little more than a photo viewer with ambition ;)

Some oddities: I couldn't get 'Reveal Group In Finder' to work. Also, 'Open In Finder' actually opens in Preview.

Does it support Raw? It reported that it pulled in a NEF but I couldn't see it in the Window. When I tried to re-import it told me it was there already.

I will have a look at the NEFs - which camara do you use?

And - it is not designed to be a replacement for iPhoto or Aperture etc and it is of course beta…

Did you told the app to recognize your format????

Tdev

It's a Nikon D40, the NEFs are supported by the OS.

And while I know it's not a replacement for iPhoto or Aperture, unless it supports Exif or IPTC metadata it's pretty useless as a photo app. Any tags you add with the app right now, for instance, will be lost if you send the pics to a Windows user and simply will not be recognised by any Photo app on any system. Would you claim an app as a Music organiser if it didn't support ID3 tags?

MOApp Software Manufactory (Developer)

Its tested with Nikons - please add the extension to recognized items :-)

And I guess 90 percent of people maybe using this app even don't know what exif data is - but learned to use Spotlight and have only one Mac with their photos - I know it's hard to believe - but my goal is not to satisfy people using exif data, have Macs and PC's running - it just an simple app for people unhappy with the iPhoto database - thats all - nothing more. It will never be more. So it is possibly no app for you - but for others :-)

I can see no way to "please add the extension to recognized items", it's simply a NEF file with a NEF extension that's recognised by the OS, iPhoto, Aperture and everything else that claims to be a photo application.

But let's not take this any further. I'll simply be amused that you add Raw support for users of Raw formats but not Exif or IPTC support. Do you really think there are many users out there who shoot Raw and don't know what standard metadata is?

As you have no interest is supporting Standards I no longer have any interest in your app. I'm sure it's a fine file browser, but as I said above, would you dare call an app that ignored ID3 tags a "Music Organiser"? Then it's a bit of a cheek to call an app that not only ignores standard metadata but dares to substitute non-standard metadata in its place a "Photo Organiser". Shame.

Why do you have to react like that???

- for me thats the real shame - we are talking about a first and free public beta - extra released to improve…

I know I have to be kind and slick - but I will never understand it why people need to react like you…

Tdev

React like what? I note that you have no interest in supporting standard metadata and so, as this is important to me, I have no further interest in your application. I think it's a shame that you won't support the standards - an opinion that I am entitled to. But that's your choice and your entitled to that. I just happen to think it's a lesser app because of it.
