GrupaDupa was created by people like you who want their hard disks free of duplicated files without spending ages in front of a computer.

Version 3.0.0:
- Added three search types: name and size, name size and checksum, and size and checksum
- GrupaDupa will now leave one file in place even if you delete all the duplicates

- By default, GrupaDupa does not look into Libraries or System files not supposed to be modified by user. This can be changed in the excluded folders and files in the preferences, if they want
- When users exclude a folder in preferences window and then choose it for a search a dialog box explains that the folder in an "Excluded folder" instead of "found no duplicates"
- Cannot access preferences during searches anymore
- When revealing files if two or more files are in the same folder (window) the Finder will now open only one window
- Double clicking parent items will toggle showing/hiding the duplicates they contain. All selected items that are open will be closed, all closed will be opened
- Changing radio buttons from search for files to folders and vice-versa is remembered when GrupaDupa is quit
- All sizes display in human-readable form, using kB, MB, GB, and TB
- Names beginning with - are searched and displayed correctly
- Added more comprehensive feed back of search status displaying current action
- Added menu items to go to FAQ page, to buy GrupaDupa, open this help file, unlock and upgrade GrupaDupa in Help menu
- Added Check for Updates... menu in menu. User can update if possible
- Names and sizes are always sorted in outline view. Names are sorted alphabetically, sizes sorted largest first
- Columns are draggable ie checksum can be relocated to first place and expandable
- Added button to toggle playing sounds on click and double click
- The button to reset preferences to default no longer closes the preferences window
- Added Page Set up and Print menu items to print the current page (Please note that Printing is limited to a screen dump of the current page)

GrupaDupa will find duplicates in any available volume in a flash. This includes hard disks, both internal and external, and any volume on your local network or on the internet. For example, GrupaDupa scanned the entire contents of one of WordPower’s hard drives (126,963,803 files), filtered out all the files that were contained in folders like bundles, themes. packages etc but appeared as files, sorted them and listed 6,658 possible duplicated files. This operation took only 45 seconds to complete.
When GrupaDupa is run, it scans the requested location and presents you with a list of the possible duplicates it has found. From this list you can inspect the details of each of them, including its location, size, modification date, and checksum. You can also work with a duplicate right from our interface by opening it with its associated application, revealing it in the Finder, viewing it using Quick Look, or deleting it.

I am Axe, one of the developers of GrupaDupa and you might have noticed I only answer people.
Robinart has nothing to do with WordPower. She is an artist that lives near us, a friend and a user of GrupaDupa. While visiting she was using one of our Macs and thought she could comment on version 3 by logging in with her name. Unfortunately she did not log out as a developer first and therefore she got the (developer) tag. For the life of me I cannot explain why there is a Wordpower (developer) comment except that both Robinart and Wordpower comments are so close together that she might have tried twice by mistake.
On behalf of WordPower I apologize for any misunderstanding this may have caused.

I forgot to tell you that it is possible to exclude any folder or file from searches. Any folder name you enter in the excluded folders or any file name in the excluded files will not be considered by GrupaDupa. Type *cache* to exclude any file with anything before cache and anything after cache.
The fields are case sensitive Cache and cache are different.

thank you for trying GrupaDupa.
I created GrupaDupa because I was not able to find any app that would find duplicated files as quickly and as effectively as I wanted, whether free or not. GrupaDupa has received many good reviews. GrupaDupa demo allows the user to see how quickly it can find duplicated files and the price to get a fully working app is extremely reasonable.

Does anyone know of a program that will find duplicates and replace them with UNIX style hard links?

Also, if the checksum and file size are different, why does it show up as a duplicate? I don't have the time to open each of the thousands of entries.

Thank you for trying GrupaDupa.
GrupaDupa reports the last modification date and the checksum as well as the name.
When the 3 are the same the file is highly probably the same. A file with the same name and any of the other 2 different is not a duplicated file for sure.
In the preferences you can filter out any of the extensions and file/folder types you do not wish GrupaDupa to look at nor report.
WordPower recommends users to check files with the reveal and or open menu commands before deleting them to avoid errors.

This makes the application useless for my needs. I've found many duplicate files in my system under different names thanks to Find Duplicate Files. There are also situations in which a file with the same name is NOT a duplicate. For example, some developers have the bad habit of naming their software "SoftwareName_Latest.dmg"
Obviously the contents of the file will vary with each release.
Another situation deals with generically named files, such as 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 1.mp3, etc.
