What's New
Version 1.10.3:
Minor Uninstall Applications tweaks.
Added ForkLift support to automatically uninstall removed applications.
I have used this product for about a month or so. It seems to do what it is designed to do - simply and reasonably fast. That is a lot more than I can say about some of its competitors. Its GUI is quite basic and simple, something that can be appreciated by the casual computer user. While Onyx can do a lot more, except for the slim feature, it is also more complex. Onyx also has a better price - free.
However for the casual user, this might be a better tool as it is much less complicated to use.
Dear Kzx72, as CleanMyMac not only trashes the app, but also removing all its traces, so configuration and log files will be removed as well, we'd like to be sure that you are uninstalling that app which you've decided to, as sometimes that could be really a hard job to recover it back. Anyway, thanks for the feedback and we'll consider that functionality for the future.
Just another bunch of scam artists that give out free copies of their software in exchange for 5-star ratings. Not really that hard to figure it out. Why MacRumors doesn't do anything about this is beyond me. Maybe they get a kickback? Maybe they don't care about cheesy bunko artists abusing the system? Who knows...
Onyx can do everything this can and more... and it's actually stable and reliable. Donate to the developers of Onyx if you want to spend money on such a tool.
This is actually very well crafted, and it works exceptionally good. There are some features Onyx hasn't, like Uninstallation, automation features, and quite some more.
And no, I'm not on the MacPaw payroll. Just speaking of my own experiences with this app. A bargain for what it does.
"All the posts, here or at other resources, are made by our users only. We do have some promotions where we give out licenses - and therefore request comments or testimonials about their experience, there is nothing wrong with that. Thank you all for your feedback! We try hard to make our application the best utility available. "

You can interpret "request comments or testimonials" however you like (I tend to see an exchange going on: you get a free license, but leave a good review). I also encourage you to look at all the 5-star reviews. 99% of them use broken English (the developers are Ukrainian) and are from members who have no prior history of posting on this board. Moreover, these allegedly fraudulent reviews have all been down voted by members of the MU community (so clearly I'm not the only one noticing a trend).
If that's not enough to raise alarm bells, then I guess you are using "investigate" in much looser terms. There won't be a big neon sign that reads "we are bilking the MU comment/rating system to increase revenue; yes we are total scam artists" I'm afraid.
Help me pls. Clean my Mac no longer looks for and cleans up my deleted apps! Used to, until 2 upgrades ago and now just opens but does not show anything but the welcome screen! Pls somebody help me. All other functions still functioning like a dream.
Why does version 1.7.1 startup and start scanning without being requested to do so. I dont see a preference to disable this. (This isnt the deleted app feature)
That appears to be an unknown issue for us and we could not reproduce it on any of our test Macs, not did anyone report it to our Support. Please go to the Help menu of CleanMyMac and click report your problem from there. We will analyze the issue using your report.
I have the same problem with CleanMyMac 1.7.1 (MacOS 10.5.8). Furthermore, when I try to stop it from scanning, it just goes on and on and on (until I force quit).
I have exactly the same problem. Force quit is the only way to stop the scan. I have removed the application completely until I see an update that fixes the problem. It's too annoying to keep the application on my Mac.
FIXED! The previously mentioned scanning problem, in CleanMyMac version 1.7.1, is FIXED in version 1.7.2. I am now able to successfully pause and/or stop the scan, at will, (MacOS 10.5.8).
Hummm! At the first try "the application quitted unexpectedly..." while analysing.
The design is very nice and the features seem great, but when an app behaves this way at the first try, especially when dealing with system and apps modifications, I don't give a 2nd try. (using OS 10.4.11)
Can you please send us a report of your problem? We have tested the new version on Tiger, and it worked perfectly.
To send the report you can use the Report Tool located under the Help main menu.
Well, the deceitful schmucks are at it once again. The developer and colleagues have, obviously, got their buddies to load MacUpdate with positive comments for their app.
The commenters below, Mieze, Ausstan, Alexvovxhenko, Ivanoff, R397, Inemoss, all have no other comments or reviews posted on MacUpdate, no downloads(except for R397) and all have last log-in dates of between September 24th -27th, 2009.
Personally, I have absolutely NO confidence in such ethically corrupt developers nor in their software. I absolutely DO NOT trust them. No doubt, personal integrity is a concept unknown to them.
As far as I'm concerned, they can take their software and shove it up their bungholes!
There's no shortage of quality maintenance apps offered by trustworthy developers from which to choose: Tinker Tool System, Cocktail, Onyx for example.
Having read your comment, we appreciate the time you have spent analyzing all our posts. As I mentioned before, all the posts here are from our actual users - and we do sometimes give out licenses and request for comments, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Our users try our application, and seem to like it.
We have proven our liability during the time - the number of our users keeps growing, and the work of our whole team is obvious. E.g. you can check your release notes :)

Really? Are you serious? There is nothing wrong with bribery? Isn't this the same thing Belkin did and was royally disciplined? Okay, sure they used money instead of giving away free Belkin stuff... so big difference huh... Give a shake at your moral compass.

"Uninstall selected objects? Are you sure you would like to uninstall the selected objects? Selected objects cannot be restored"
The same way Apple allows you to disable this trash warning in Finder preferences, it'd be nice to have it for CleanMyMac. TY
