There's no reason a user should be forced to open iTunes' window and decipher the complex interface and sort through all the fancy eye-candy just to find out what the name of the track playing is, or who sings it.
TunesBar is a Menu Bar application which allows you to conveniently glance quickly at who is playing in iTunes. No clutter, no fancy user interface, just a simple item in your Menu Bar to show you what you want to know, when you want to know it, right away.
Features:
Integrates smoothly into
What's New
Version 3.0.1:
Added support for 64-bit systems
Adjusted user interface in Preferences window
Fixed a bug that made TunesBar complain whenever music from the iTunes Store was played
For $10, I want the ability to modify the font and font size. I'd also like to be able to set some controls, such as hot keys for repeat functions and such. Perhaps I'm not properly seeing these features in the screenshot, but it looks to me to be too basic for the price. Currently, I use QuickTunes, which is free.
DockBlock also does this (though you wouldn't guess from its name), and its half the price. Plus it also does its main function of allowing you to disable the dock (it provides its own app switching menu).
This is exactly what I've been looking for for ages: a simple, non-scrolling way of showing the title and artist of the current track in the menu bar without any unnecessary additional bells and whistles.
To make this my perfect app, I'd like to have the ability to alter the separating character (currently a dot) between track title and artist name, and I'd like it if the app opened and closed automatically when iTunes opens and closes (although I get around that at the moment using iKey to achieve the same thing).
Even as it is, though, TunesBar is an app I wouldn't be without.
