I don't understand why so many of commenters of these FREE applications from Creative.Live.Love are so vehement regarding the simplicity of the applications. The developer, who has an obvious esthetic sense creates some attractive, single-purpose applications and asks nothing in return other than some feedback when something doesn't work.
So rather than flaming the poor developer, how about simply emailing him with a problem that you're having or a feature that you'd like to see introduced.
Of course, there are many good - but sometimes you just need something simple - very simple…
That was the goal - as simple and a clean as possible app and a app thats able to run from a thumb drive - nothing more…
Maybe the analog diary from SYZZYGY does the cooking or goes to work for him - my analog diary is a simple book with blank sheets I can always have with me…

Maybe I really should think about to build in an encryption :-)
This pathetic attempt at a simple diary really has nothing much going for it. It just doesn't reflect any real creative thinking from the developer.
One can use any number of also free notepads available instead of this. Hmmm....why did the developer even bother with coming up with this silly little piece of nothing?
If you want a simple, free diary with just the right amount of useful features, and unlike Tagebuch, demonstrates real talent and creativity, try the beautifully done viJournal Lite; it just blows this little embarrassment right out of the water.
Just like we all like different colors, we like different levels of complexity (or simplicity) in our software. The only thing pathetic here is the way you embarrass yourself by criticizing personal taste rather than critiquing a product that someone was kind enough to share with this community.
Very bare bones yet it's still rather cumbersome to use. Not at all intuitive. No description of how it's puzzling features work.
After invoking one entry already saved, I then clicked on "new entry" but it didn't come up. Had to then close Tagebuck and then reopen to make "new entry" useable.
"Tag" feature doesn't seem to work. No password protection or encryption offered, which is a must for any diary as far as I'm concerned.
In disgust, I trashed this thing. Uggghhh!!!
Ok, so it's free...so what! I think that Tagebuch is ill conceived and ridiculous. I'd say that the developer is a rank amateur with limited talent.
Keeping the welcome entry (which contains the words ”This is a portable application.”), a search for the word ”this” returns just the same as a search for the word ”alien”: nothing. The screen even stays the same. (No ”Nothing was found” message.)
The search field menu also has the custom of jumping back to ”✓Entry” after I have searched once for ”✓Content”.
P'aps it works fine on Leopard. I still use Tiger.
I have done some more tests with Tagebuch. I find that if I do a search on Content, Tagebuch finds nothing and will not be able to make any other searches, either on Entry or Tag.
I have to quit Tagebuch and re-launch. If my searches are only on Entry or Tags then Tagebuch will find the appropriate Entries. But should I search at any time on Content, I will need to quit Tagbuch to make any more successful searches with Entry or Tag.
If my first search in Tagebuch is a Content search, Tagebuch will appear not to be able to do any searches. It seems best to avoid the Content search at the current time.
I have recorded a 3 minute video showing this problem and have uploaded it here:
