Schnippselchen Pro... Store, track, and fast access all your code snippets and paste them into any editor (e.g. Xcode or TextMate) by simply dragging them from Schnippselchen Pro and dropping them onto your used editor.

Schnippselchen Pro supports syntax highlighting.Notice:Schnippselchen Pro is also available as portable application. That means that you can run the portable version from any thumb-drive, NAS etcetera - so you can always have your snippets with you. But that also means, that you can't delete the app itself without loosing all your data. So it helps to lock it and for updating and migration please backup and restore more...

The only downloadable version (called "portable version") stores the data inside the app itself. The non-portable can't be found anywhere. The support web pages are down, so no manual, no FAQ, no help. This programme seems abandoned to me.

Really nice app. I use it to store AppleScripts and it does a first rate job.

To have font anti-aliasing for your snippets - just enable custom font in preferences :-)
Of corse there is also a shortcut for "Copy" :-)
But you don't need to copy it - the fastest way is to drag & drop snippets to the desired place :-)

what is the shortcut which copies the selected snippet apart from cmd-c then, 'cause I cant ind it.. Not really of the drag-n-drop persuation?

I really like this app, the look of it and the simplicity of the by-language ordering of the code snippets. Apart from some simple shortcomings:

1) font anti-aliasing
- I really enjoy using the TextMate editor, and want my code to be presented with font monaco, which looks horrible if not anti-aliased
2) The "Syntax" button
- I thought, which would have been really cool, that one could mark a subset of your code, and change the syntax to reflect nested code from another language. This just changes the entire syntax, which on reflection makes sense, but seems a bit redundant since if the language was different, it would be in a different category..
3) a short-cut to the "Copy" method, which copies a selected snippet in its entirety.. I'm not a fan of buttons (whithout sortcuts).
4) Maybe a method to add code to Schnippselschen without copy-pasting it.. Selecting code in any editor -> add-code-snippet-method would be awesome (or shortcut.. I do like them shortcuts)

What absolutely love about this program:
1) the very minimalistic comment-section
2) Clean, usable interface, a pleasure to use - looks very promising and is in my opinion one of the most interesting apps on code-snippets at the moment.. A simple approach to a simple problem!
3) It feels good, it's very hard to measure, but a big factor for the longtime use

4/5 for now, and a sure 5/5 when the minor annoyances are ironed out.

Appreciate the app!

of course you can import (from pro to pro - not from the old Schnippselchen)

and thats the "layout" many (a lot of) users asked for - so sorry to hear your opinion - I wish I could satisfy every single user - but thats impossible…

a little bummed on the new version. you have to paste all your old snippets into the new version. it will not import an exported database. that's frustrating.

the app is totally rewritten and the new interface is not as nice as the old one imho.

old version, you could see a long list of snippets below the catagories, and the new version, that is all gone. i felt the old way was easier to see everything, rather than using the search field to locate what you want.

the notes field has been moved to the far right, and i felt it was better colored and easier to see above the code, that way your brain read it before the code and left myself notes in there for using the code.

the new app looks and feels like code collector pro/lite, so if you like the way that one worked, then you will be happy.

i wish the old version had had some bug fixes added to it, but oh well, will look for another snippet library, just don't care for the way the new model works.

I am no PHP Expert - I tried to cover most Languages with the default Syntax and that works also for my PHP Files - but you can write your own Definitions into a .plist file (In the MAinBundle) that will fit your needs and of corse this small tool is no replacement for TextMate etc. its just to quick access needed Snippets and drop them into Xcode or TextMate…

und ein Programm, in dem eh nur englische "Fetzen" rumfliegen muss ja nicht unbedingt der deutschen Sprache mächtig sein :-)

I tried to change the syntax definition for PHP and I see that the plist already contains lot of keywords and correct definitions for variables etc. But Schnippselchen seems not to use most of them. For example variables ($variable) should be coloured different. But it does not happen if I select the php syntax scheme.

The new version does not fix the syntax highlighting issue. I selected a php example snippet and switched to php coloring.

Most highlighters seem not to work ('php') correctly and there are a lot of duplicate highlighters listed. 'CSS 1' works but 'css' not. Also the App should remember the highlighting for a snippet. Also a group should have a default highlighter. Maybe it's al in there, but the Link in the help file to the manual is dead.

Strange that an app with a German name is only available in English. ;-)
