i echo the comments below. since it moved to a plugin, the slick navigation is lost. disappointed by this new direction. please consider moving back to a standalone app or at least give people the option to choose.

This is now a browser plugin and basically it sucks big time. The free standing app was neat, had useful sidebars and was generally a slick piece of work albeit with a few minor niggles. The browser is just a mess. It looks like Facebook gone mad, and the aggravating login animation - loud, annoying and persistent - is enough to make anyone cringe. Hard to navigate and the continual streaming of unwanted video while you are searching is also a drag. It was fun while it lasted, but I can't use this anymore.

excellent! impressive interface!! some surprisingly great content (in particular a multi part documentary i watched on spacerip about robots) highly recommended. would certainly like to see more high caliber content, but then again, this is all free with no commercials, so i can't complain. (but do we really need more swimsuit channels? ugh-and i'm a guy...bring on quality content and sign up with more producers!!)

performance wise:

Penryn MBP, 6Mbit/640 DSL profile: not a single stutter, it played like butter. VERY FAST buffering, and CONSISTENT for every channel/show. impressive! not a single hiccup with hours of watching! Using my net monitor it seems the app uses less than 100k/sec, so again that's applaudable.

Quality of video is 8/10...respectable for streaming, but don't compare it to a dvd.....high motion brings the codec to its knees and pixelation is visible. by comparison, on stills it does a fantastic job.

a few minor bugs (cursor disappearing, some buttons get "stuck" in the explorer)

Still not Universal Binary, ie not compatible with PPC! When is this going to happen, if ever???

The developer's site is the place to find out or ask about what you want to know.

From the developer's site, Joost forums: "I'm afraid the PPC version is not planned."

Yup. After months of "it's in the works", they silently dropped their plans for PPC support. It took some fairly strong reaction on the forums before they even admitted it was off the map.

Short story: Joost will now never work on PPC.

Full Screen is dreadfull. Why?
Watching in TV in a tiny window is ridiculous...

But: quite good thing for a beta

Keep on going..

Can't beat the price, and the quality is great. The interface is so much better than the 0.x versions. Seriously, it's gorgeous. The two icons in the dock glitch seems to have been fixed. My only problem was a few of my channels not being available, but that's nothing to worry about for now. I can live without one or two of them.
