I don't really see your widget as a "rival" because I don't consider my site and sites like it a "competition." I also write for other sites like CreativeBits, Macworld and several others - all of which "compete" with my site. I do it because I enjoy it.

I'm disappointed in this widget because it simply adds no value. I can see headlines in dozens upon dozens of other widgets, readers and even on iGoogle page. The fact that you're just starting is no excuse for the lack of tips - you should have waited to release the widget until you had more then.

I don't think I'm being unfair. You have a 1.o product with little to no content. My review is a reflection of that.

I think you misunderstood what I meant by the "taken from other blogs" comment. I realize that your content (just like everyone elses) is usually taken from somewhere other than our own experience. We read other sites, mags, ect. and repost it. What I meant was that the tips in the widget from your site are so basic in nature that they're found EVERYWHERE.

If you're going to launch an app/widget like this, and you have little to no content, you should at least make the content you do have highly useful or entertaining.

Try and be fair and check out the blog again. I'm putting a lot of work into keeping the blog going. The content is building.

I've just checked MacGizmo's website and now I can see why he's so negative about this widget. Macgizmo or 'Creative Guy' runs his own website that also provides hints and tips for Adobe apps.

Don't worry James, I'm not a rival and my site is nowhere near as good as yours (how could it possibly be). I'm just somebody in little old England trying to have a bit of fun.

I could be as critical and ungenerous as you by stating that I've also seen all the hints and tips on your site elsewhere on the web. But I'm not going to. Your site is fantastic, 'Creative Guy'. I'd advise anyone reading this to pay it a visit.

You're welcome to your opinion but I think you're being unfair. Yes, the widget is simple and yes there are only 14 or so tips available at present. However, this blog is in its early days and there will be a new tip or tutorial every day.

What I do resent is you saying that our tips have been taken from other blogs. I can assure you that this is not true and would like to give you the opportunity to email me the urls of these locations so that I can check what you say. I think that this is a very unfair and ungenerous implication.

I'm not trying to make any money out of this, I just thought it would be a nice thing to do. Your comments leave me with a sour taste in my mouth.

This is not worth the download. The widget simply shows (some of) the headline to a very basic tip or tutorial, but not the tip/tutorial itself.

Basically, it's just a ploy to get you to go to the Web site, which at this time features only about 14 tips taken from other blogs/sites.

For this to be useful or even remotely enjoyable, the entire tip needs to appear in the widget. Also, a little basic customizing to the widget would be nice. It appears that this was a "test project" using Apple's widget builder.
