I am attempting to learn Spanish and have owned Rosetta Stone for several months. I was NOT happy with the Rosetta requirement of having the disk running to access the program. It burned battery time, runs slow because of this requirement and the worst, it BOMBS all the time (especially when running the speech meter.)
Along comes BYKI.
I started by downloading the free version and spent a couple of hours playing with the features available (limited flashcard files, etc.) The free version does not allow access to the voice meter nor creating your own card set. While this would have been nice, I was convinced from the free version that this was a great tool and worth buying. I bought and downloaded the Deluxe version. I did have trouble getting the library of flashcards to work at first, but quickly realized that I had the file in the wrong folder. All of a sudden I had 95 sets of usable cards and full access to the voice meter and could make my own card sets.
The sound meter works FAR better then the ten times more expensive Rosetta Stone crap. After a few hours working on the downloaded card sets, I started making my own. What a joy. I now take all the words from each adult ed night school lesson and create files to practice before and after class. I find myself spending at least an hour each time I log on. The program is captivation and IT WORKS. I also have figured out how to create a new card and then record native speaker voice to the card, so I have correct pronunciation.
Now the bad news. If you do not spend at least one hour a day, this tool is no better than any other unused learning software.
I found this a very good way to learn and memorize the Mandarin dialect of Chinese. I liked it so much that I upgraded to the Deluxe version and very glad that I did.
[Version 3.6.68.11]
