I've been using Peel 1.x since it was launched. It's a very nice MP3 blog aggregator, but it was slow (specially while getting the tracks metadata) and took too much resources.
I've just downloaded and tried version 2.0. And... Wow! It's so much faster! And has a better (and nicer) interface.
Upgrading from version 1.x is $15. And it's well worth it.
(And no... I'm not the developer or related to him in any way. I'm just an ordinary user.)

I have just one complaint about version 2.0: when I installed it, I lost all the blogs that I had in version 1.x. I had to add them all again, one by one. (I had a list of them all, including URLs, in Notational Velocity.)

I'm sorry about that. Peel 2 does not overwrite the Peel 1.o data so if you still have Peel 1.0 around you can export the list and import into Peel 2. You can also get the old Peel here: www.getpeel.com/files/Peel_1.0.10.dmg.

Thanks.

I downloaded this app with high expectations of its capabilities. I am running 10.5.2 on an Ibook g4 1.42ghz with 1.5 gb of ram. At any given time Peel would be taking up 1 gb of real ram. This slowed down my computer considerably. I don't see how it would need to be such a memory hog. While the app is amazing it needs some serious optimization.

I agree.

Not only does it use tons of RAM, but also CPU and the worst offender: hard disk space.

Just refreshing my 10-12 blogs causes Peel to use 1GB+ of HD space that I can only recover by rebooting. It gets even worse when you start listening to songs.

It's a bit tough when I'm using my iBook's small 60GB drive to the limit.

The software hasn't been updated in ages, but I check the website weekly because I'm desperate for any new version that might be more efficient.

I was one of the first to buy it when it went out of beta, too. So I'm not a hater.

I've just downloaded this. It's a good idea and nice app. It'll be interesting to see how it develops.

mp3 blogs have never appealed to me, but after 4 minutes of fiddling around with this thing I'm want find out more.

Great piece of software, has allowed me to get into lots of new artists - I now enjoy music blogs far more.

I agree, better than Songbird. This is what the Mac is for. Simple ideas and great software.

Excellent piece of software. Extremely stable, very fast (especially as compared to Songbird), familiar interface, and does exactly what it's supposed to. Still in beta though, so there are some interface issues to work out, and some keyboard shortcuts to implement. Other than that, keep up the good work -- you'll have my shareware fee when this comes out of beta.
