A52Codec

An updated version of the codec that fixes issues in 10.8 and 10.9, can be downloaded here: http://subler.googlecode.com/files/A52Codec.component.zip

Perian is now listed as discontinued in 2012, so is it known where users should go for an updated (i.e. newer than version 1.8.0) A52 Codec for OS X PPC and Intel?

Like puddingbowl, I installed the xvid 1.0 alpha component and the A52, but still am not getting any audio. Can anyone help me, please? Cheers!

Can it let me play VIDEO_TS from DVD with sound/ audio? I have QTpro with mpeg2 component.

Without this codec, AC3 audio isn't playable in apps that rely upon QT. (Of course, VLC doesn't have an issue but that's because VLC is self-contained and has all of the requisite components and codecs built-in.) This codec plus Perian plus Flip4Mac's free component let virtually everything play in your QT apps. Thank you!

Please, do what Apple did'nt, Allowing play ac3 in mpg, vob, and TS multiplexed in QuickTime. And this codec will become a must have…

Does A52Codec 1.7.6 conflict with Perian 1.0 (which, I believe, includes A52Codec 1.7.2)?

Hi all, i am having problem with my AC3 videos on the Quicktime player. After i installed the "A52Codec 1.7.2", all of my AC3 videos get a white "blinking" bar on the right handside of the QT player while playing the video. I tried the same video same add-on on the G5 ppc, but everything runs smooth and fine. Any of you guys know i can get rid of this problem? Please help, thanks a lot

This, together with Perian, NicePlayer, and MPlayer OSX, completes my video playing requirements for probably any type of video (or at least those that I do play).

Finally AC3 encoded Movie file can be played smoothly in Quicktime Universal Binary! A big THANKS to 'Graham Booker', the developer who apparently fulfilled my expectation unexpectably well :P

Mac NOOB here. After downloading and double clicking, the A52Codec just opens it in Excel. What program do I need to decode/install this codec? Or what am I simply doing wrong?

Excellent. The intel mac community has been in dire need of an AC3 codec (there have been a couple of random unsupported builds floating around, but they are pretty flaky).

I agree, with this plugin, Quicktime still will not play AC3 encoded VOB or MPG files. I authored a DVD on a PC using Sony Architect with AC3 audio. I ripped it with MacTheRipper, and it will not play audio with Quicktime. I am looking for a solution.

Does not work for me. After installation as instructed, Quicktime still cannot play the sound when viewing a .VOB file.

I'm not able to get this working. I tried filing a ticket but it apparently disappeared. iTunes and Quicktime will not play the .ac3 from: http://www.lynnemusic.com/surround.html
