I have found iConceal 1.0.1 to be a very powerful encryption tool. I have encrypted many of my sensitive files and folders with it.
However, I have one BIG problem! Today when I tried to open iConceal I found that iConceal itself is now encrypted and I cannot unencrypt any of my sensitive material!
I hope that by downloading a new .dmg of iConceal will help me unencrypt my valuable photos.
Oh how wonderful for you Cavanaughphoto!
So according to your logic I have to buy a faster machine (like yours) @ 1.5 Ghz and at least 2GB ram in order to use a 668kb application!
Your comment is about as useful as an ashtray on a motocycle.
First of all if I offended you I apologize. My goal wasn't to put you down or question the validity of your review. I just wanted to let other people know that if they have a newer machine or even an older machine with enough RAM iConceal should run just fine. It would be a shame for people to miss out on what I have found to be a great little app based on one person's negative experience.
Being that iConceal will encrypt a 50MB file on my machine in 21 seconds I'm guessing that your problems go beyond the fact that you have a G3. There's got to be something else going on there. If you haven't maxed out the RAM on your machine I would highly recommend it. The bare minimum requirements for Tiger (I'm assuming you are running Tiger since it's a system requirement for iConceal) alone is a machine with at least 256MB of RAM and everyone I've spoken to says that you really need at least 512MB of RAM. I have personal experience with this. We have a 400Mhz Power Mac G4 that we use as a file server. It only has 384MB of RAM and man is it slooooow. A buddy of mine has an iBook G3 with 640MB of RAM and it's faster than the Power Mac. A RAM upgrade gives you the biggest performance “bang” for your buck.
iConceal is freeware and I do think that you might wanna give the person who wrote this app a break. You are using a pretty old machine (the G3 desktops were discontinued in '01 and the IBooks in '03). If you would like to see an improvement in the performance of iConceal on G3s perhaps you could consider making a donation to the developer along with your request. I have found that the developers really appreciate it and a request doesn't fall on deaf ears.
I no!

Far, far too slow even for a G3 machine.
