Want to be able to make phone calls around the world from anywhere? Answer your home phone from a hotel in Tokyo? Well, you can with JackenIAX and an Asterisk server or using an VoIP provider that supports the IAX2 protocol.
If you want to try it out without signing up for an VoIP account, just get a free FWD account. Read how here.
What's New
Version 1.0beta vv218:221M
Updated libraries to later versions.
Added preference setting to be able to set number of digits before adding a prefix. So now you can set so that number longer than 4 digits gets a prefix of 0, but shorter number does not. Added so extensions works on the same server.
I downloaded this app, registered a free acount at FWD (free world dial up), and i've been putzing around with it for the last couple of hours. None of my friends have FWD accounts, so I can only call the echo test and the developers test number, but it seems like a great program. I have a weakness for a slick GUI, so I really appreciate the old-school meters in the bottom of the dialer window.
When I get around to setting up an Asterisk server, i'll probably use this as my softphone app.
