The typical shutdown has a scheduler that'll shut down the system, but oftentimes it doesn't do so because an application blocks it. So my computer ends up running for an entire day. I've been looking for an app that'll force quit any applications and shut down, and this does just that. I'm still running Tiger, so I don't know how it'll run on Leopard though. I'm also concerned that this app is a few years old, though I suppose there really isn't any additional features needed.
This program is nice and useful. But I thought it is part of prefpane. Maybe it can be real system shutdown but i have no idea how it can be :) I mean whenever i push the start button this program can work. It is an idea only ;)

Super Shut Down is a new interface to shut down or restart your mac.
This is a little application that you can lauch instead of using the "Shut Down" submenu of the Apple menu.
You will recognize the features of the standart shut down interface, with more options:
You can choose your startup disk in a menu.
You can force, if you need, the restart or the shutdown.
You can schedule restart, shutdown, sleep, and forced actions.
You can personnalize every shortcut.
You can add a delay to every button.
Why a delay ? Because this is always when the Shutdown button is clicked that we realize we have forgotten to do something. So, a short delay is perfect to cancel the shutdown process.
