I went to the program after Quicken stopped supporting home inventory and Mac in general, several years ago.
It is so much better and easy for me - very novice person- to use. But the best part is the customer service. Kevin always answers my questions quickly and gives advice that I can understand. Wish all software was this easy to deal with!

Best inventory app there is. Clean UI, stable and with the companion iPhone app it's fun to enter items. Nice work.

Ok, so I downloaded this product, and went to open it from my downloads folder and it came up with the window that it was initializing and then nothing? So I clicked on the downloaded folder again and now nothing happens. Am I missing something??

2.5.0 still has the bug with column widths not preserving their resized positions between sessions -- they always revert to the default widths.

Same non-sticky resized column issue exists in 2.6.0 so I've finally reported it in e-mail to the developer.

Did whoever downrated my original comment not want this to be reported/fixed? ;)

Version 2.4.3: Release notes were unavailable when this listing was updated.

I hate it, when companies don't provide proper update release notes.

My apologies. Most of the reason for the v2.4.3 involved a really minor change for a very bizarre (and difficult to explain) issue. That's no excuse, though, and I should have done a better job of explaining the update.

Wow. -6 for posting the missing changelog. That's dedication... Sometime I really don't understand the MU community.

Even the dev chimes in and agrees. Hmm. Maybe people don't really like changelogs? I'm puzzled.

Almost two years after I wrote a 5-star review about Home Inventory here, I'm even more impressed. Not only has the app evolved even more, but the developer (Kevin) continues to be one of the most responsive I've ever encountered. This "weekend" I re-installed Home Inventory on a new Mac and emailed him about a small issue (that was actually my fault) and he replied. Then during the course of our email exchange he continued on his iPhone (obviously trying to keep a customer happy during his own weekend...something he certainly didn't have to do). I just want to say that some other developers should take a lesson from this and maybe be even half as responsive as Kevin.

I quote the developers website, "a new license is $34.95". This information should be updated here. $14.95 is the upgrade price.

The list is correct. $14.99 is the price for the full version. It appears there was an oversite on the web page for upgrading from version 1.x, which we will correct.

My first post on macupdate, wow, I deserve a cookie. I just purchased this product and I must admit - I'm impressed! I will spare all of you the usual posting lingo, "ease of use, great layout, wow, handy app" etc. Also, I will spare you of any sort of tech speak or terminology that may baffle most people. My issues, if any, is whether I purchased the right product or not. Let me explain. Don't get me wrong, I like this app and I am not going to trash or give it a poor rating or review; however, I just finished looking at another product called MyStuff. Is anyone familiar with this product? It looks great. What I like most is the ability to add video. Perhaps Home Inventory does this and I've missed it, but as of now I haven't been able to locate this feature. Also, I like the warranty manager and how it allows a user to view a progressive timeline, not text, of a product's warranty end-date. My explanation will not give it justice. You will have to see it for yourself. Finally, I like the FileFinder Palette. Wow! You can add a user manuel in PDF with ease and directly from the print menu.

Nevertheless, Binary Formations (Home Inventory) already has my money. There's no going back; however, so will Minder Software (MyStuff). My hope, my hope is that Binary Formations (Home Inventory) makes the improvements I've mentioned above. I like the product, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will continue to improve on an already great product. 4.5 Stars, but will still test drive MyStuff. Just being honest. Thanks!
