Mail Type Select adds Finder-like keyboard navigation to the list of messages in Mail. When the list of messages has focus,
  • Typing a few characters selects a matching message.
  • ctrl-down-arrow and ctrl-up-arrow select next and previous match.
  • ESC and cmd-. cancel.

Spiffy. Why this isn't already in Mail is a mystery, but kudos for the freeware.

This is a functionality apple should have implemented all along. Mail Type Select is a gift to all the keyboard junkies amongst users of apples mail app. Thanks for providing this at no cost!
