Blue Skies is a screen saver displaying blue skies and clouds, photographed over the summer of 2004 in Texas.
I've had a number of people comment that they liked the screensaver on my Mac. And it's grown on me too. It's great here in Michigan when you don't always get to see the sun AND clouds during the winter.
I downloaded the screensaver, and I like it!
I am a freelance graphic designer, and sometimes I like to have things that are simple, and beautiful at the same time. I personally don't like things fancy all the time, like some screensavers are.
I don't know why people are leaving rude comments about this screensaver. The description clearly states that it's a bunch of pictures of the sky shot in Texas. If you expected anything more than that it's YOUR problem, not the author's.
That being said, not much here to see, and what there is, I've seen MUCH better pics.
I'll yeild to your expertise on the quality of the pictures... I'm just starting out with photography... I've only had this camera for about two years. I'd live to see a simple slidesaver like this with really professional pictures, but I haven't found one yet.
I started this project because I wanted some nice calm desktop and screensaver images of clouds. I even bought a Windows screensaver to try and get the images out of it (for my own personal use, not for distribution) and crop them to remove the photographer's advertising material and picturesque (but unwanted) cattle, trees, mountains, and so on... but it was too well encrypted.
So I figured I could at least take some pictures of my own.
1. it takes several thousand pictures to get a dozen or so nice ones. Clouds are hard to photograph, and NEVER look the same on the screen as they did in the sky. Don't take one picture, take ten, and expect to throw away all 10 nine times out of ten.
2. "Professional" photographic retouching software produces no better results in the hands of an amateur than freeware like Toyviewer or XV. Save your money.
3. Don't challenge people who don't like your pictures to do a better job. They won't take it as a challenge, even in the rare case where they can actually do a better job.
Rarely do I criticize programs... but come on man. It's some pictures of the sky probably taken with a disposable camera. Nothing more.
People from Texas crack me up, they all think Texas is some great place and the sky and clouds look different than they do anywhere else.
Get a life.
You must be from Oregon. "No sky country."
it's just a bunch of pictures
"It's just a bunch of pictures"?
Well, yeh, that's what it says in the description. Except that MacUpdate changed it to read "moving clouds": that wasn't in the description I sent them: I assume they're not familiar with the way slidesavers work and thought there was some custom software involved.
As for why I sent it in, well, there was a "Red Lights" slidesaver just posted, so I figured these images would be just as acceptable. Guess i was wrong. :)
Yes, we (MacUpdate) are familiar with how slidesavers work. Anyway....I like them personally, which is why I posted them. 600+ downloads isn't bad for a day's work of screensaver downloading on MacUpdate.
