Version 1.4:
Brilliant new icon by Wolfgang Bartelme
Complete support for filling out web forms automatically
I have been using isnip for years. I never had problems with 10.5 but a recent upgrade to 10.6 resulted in the program frequently hanging or quitting altogether.
I had actually looked at other programs but decided to fiddle with isnip first as I have a large library of snippets that I didn't want to lose or recreate. I discovered that if I set the preferences to limit the history to 20 items it has worked perfectly without hanging or quitting.
Ditto the above comment. Was using iSnip for years but it's development is dead. And it's PPC, so it's slow even on my Mac Pro. ClipMenu offers the same features, it's not a PPC app (of course), plus it shows your long snippets via "tool tip" pop-up...really nice. Donated $5 to the developer -- I know I'll be using this application just about everyday.
iSnip 2 is currently in the early stages of development. I've decided to rewrite the entire thing to take more advantage of some of the tools provided in the OS (CoreData being one of them), so it's "back to the drawing board."
But yes, iSnip 2 is forthcoming (when, I don't know... I do have school and a job to worry about first).
however, until then....is it possible just to compile a universal binary update of the old isnip....it works perfectly for me, except for the minor issue of being rather slow.... :(
also...if i may request...keep the new version simple too! isnip's virtue is that it isnt a bloated, feature-filled app with dozens of floating opaque windows...
Great little app. Stable and fast on my Intel machine.
I've been using iSnip for a long time and recently installed it on my brand new Mac Pro. It's been working flawlessly without a single crash. This app is no longer being developed but, as is, it's extremely useful. My favorite feature: it allows me to insert text by either selecting my text from the menubar (pop-down window) or by simple drag & drop (from the "Snippet Manager" window). iSnip allows you to group your "snippets", assign each with a short name, and quickly edit them as needed. It's free and, though it'll never become "intel-compatible," it's stable and fast on my Intel mac.
iSnip 1.4 is unstable under Leopard, as stated before - unless you choose "Disable clipboard history" in the Preferences. After doing so it's a reliable and very useful companion.
After updating to Mac Os X 10.4.9 iSnip crashes when starting up. Here is part of the console log:
2007-03-14 10:26:15.042 iSnip[429] CFLog (0):
CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): plist parse failed; the data is not proper UTF-8. The file name for this data could be:

The parser will retry as in 10.2, but the problem should be corrected in the plist.

It crashes out on my new MacBook under 10.4.6. Tried to delete its database and preference file, nothing worked. We need an UB version to get this working on Intel Macs I suspect.
That is what I look so much about MacUpdate. They are clear and concise as to what systems/platforms a specific program can be used for.
It clearly states that this is still only a PPC binary. Of course it won't run on Intel. Wait or write the author about creating an Intel or PPC/Intel universal binary.

I think you'll find it reasonably comparable.

If I could request one feature, it would be syntax colouring for different coding languages. But really, that's just an aesthetic consideration.
Keep up the good work.
