For FREE, you can get XLD-(X Lossless Decoder) which will in and of itself convert(with no intermediary files) all sorts of sound formats.
It's the best option we have on the Mac right now.
Go get it.

(And could we have an option to select --alt-preset-standard and --alt-preset-extreme, please? All my other MP3s are ripped at --alt-preset-extreme, and it would be nice to have the same for Sound Grinder-generated files as well...)

Does anybody know what might be going wrong?
Also, we welcome greatly any information you can provide about the issue with CBR and VBR formats as we cannot duplicate the issue, but would like more information. Please contact support@monkey-tools.com and we will assist you promptly.
Thank you,
Monkey Tools Support

Functionally, the program is great, but the interface doesn't feel natural at all. It's much too cluttered and non-standard.
It would be nice if it could simply tie-in to iTunes for MP3 conversion. As it is i just converted my OGG files to AIFF, then converted them to MP3 in iTunes.
Also, we currently provide the installer and require admin access in order to install the Contextual Menu Plugin that supports Rapid Convert. Rapid Convert provides a quick and powerful way to process your assets. You can read more about this in the installed users guide.
Please note, that the application references its location in the application folder for further features, and it is our recommendation that you run the installer to ensure proper operation of Sound Grinder.
Best Regards,
Monkey Tools

In addition, Sound Grinder does not just use Quicktime. There is OGG, MP3 and other formats supported as well as very convenient features that save a lot of time in effort. For the cost of a couple billing hours you gain efficiencies that will save those hours in no time. We are open to all comments, and want to hear from our users.

But on the other hand where are you getting this "most Mac users are between 15 & 25" rubbish from? Like 60% of all the Mac users I know are over 25. How many 15 year old kids do you know that can afford a Mac without their parents also being Mac users? Maybe a few but not oo many.
