GarageSale overview

GarageSale lets you comfortably create, launch and track your listings. Manage your sales and inventory. Simplify your eBay life and use the most advanced eBay seller tool for Mac.

Listing Creator

GarageSale's main goal is to provide you with everything that you need to create and start attractive eBay listings - with ease. To meet this goal GarageSale offers all the needed eBay options for private and for business sellers and lets you edit and style your item description and images. GarageSale helps you with the complexity of the eBay system by keeping you informed about potential eBay traps and error messages. Listing on eBay is fun again!

Tracking

GarageSale tracks the state of your listings and orders. It shows all information about your listing, like current bid, watchers, sold item, listing fees and everything else. When a listing has finished you'll be informed about the buyer's name, the address and all transaction details. The order state is synced with eBay.

Synching

If you work with GarageSale on severals Macs you might find the Synching feature helpful. Once enabled your GarageSale database will be synched between your Macs. Please see the Synching chapter in the manual for all details.

Parts Compatibility

When listing vehicle parts, you can specify a list of compatible vehicles on eBay USA Motors, eBay Germany, eBay Australia and eBay UK. Make sure the category you selected supports parts compatibility.

CSV Import for Listings and Inventory

GarageSale can import listings from files in arbitrary CSV formats. You can specify what column in your CSV file is mapped to what listing or inventory field in GarageSale. Instead of importing you can also instruct GarageSale to just update existing listings from the data in the CSV file based on the SKU.

Orders

GarageSale's Orders sections keep track of incoming orders. It shows information about the order status, purchased items and provides you with all buyer details that you need to process the order and to ship your items. If needed you can communicate with your buyers by sending an eBay message. Once the item is shipped, upload the tracking ID to eBay and leave feedback right from within GarageSale.

Packing Slips and Invoices
Print packing slips that you can add to the shipment or use them to help you find the ordered items in your warehouse. Do you have a label printer? Simply print the buyer's address using the address label template (29mm). If you're familiar to HTML you can create your own labels, too. Create invoices by sending the data from your orders to the GrandTotal invoice application.
Revise, Relist, Auto-Restart
If you need to modify a listing after starting it, you can do this easily from within GarageSale. Finished listings that haven't received any bids or didn't sell can be relisted without paying listing fees twice (depending on eBay's relisting policy). GarageSale is also giving you control over what listing attributes to update. This way you can keep your recent sales score for fixed-price items and retain your Best Match rank in eBay's search result.

The automatic restart feature starts new listings once your item has sold out on eBay. Using "re-list" will preserve the existing search rank of your ended listing and carry it over to the re-listed listing. This feature is linked with GarageSale's inventory management: If you have less inventory in stock than what you are offering for sale in your listing, GarageSale will not start the listing.

To revise, relist or to stop a listing open the "More" button in GarageSale's toolbar or the "Listing" menu in GarageSale's menu bar.

And more...

There is a preference in this product to not display a small logo at the end of your listings stating your listing was made with this product. When that is turned off the logo does not appear in your listings, but what the company doe snot tell you is that they are injecting hidden html in your listing anyway. The two are examples for two different versions. <div style="position: absolute !important; top: -5px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden !important; font-size: 1px !important; line-height: 1px !important;">&nbsp;_gsrx_vers_859 (GS 7.0.21 (859))</div> <div style="position: absolute !important; top: -5px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden !important; font-size: 1px !important; line-height: 1px !important;">&nbsp;_gsrx_vers_1480 (GS 9.1.1 (1480))</div> The company is then able to search for that code to find listing uploaded with their product. For example; searching for "gsrx_vers_859" will find all listings uploaded with build number 859. The company is using that information to display a counter on their website of all listings on eBay. They are also showing numerous examples of listings on eBay using their product on their website that include the gallery picture for each item, title, listing number and price. These are linked to the actual eBay listings. This company is violating the intellectual property rights of its users by using images with the owner's permission. They are injecting hidden code into listing in order to track listings and mine ebay data.

Once GarageSale went beyond version 6.6x - it became a steaming pile of garbage.. waste of time , jump through hoops for hours to do something extremely simple one could do effortlessly for years. This is 'chaos' software. Thank God I don't have to rely on Ebay anymore - but the real problem is Garagesale - they obviously hired imbeciles to re-design the interface every few months.. hiding important windows and funtions, changing names of things, burying stuff in mind boggling areas of the app.. bloating out the software so it crashes on a Modern computer..when it used to run seamlessly . Did they really have to hire the Millenial sector to design the recent interfaces? They are autistic.. nothing works for regular people when an autistic person gets their hands on it.. and if you think that's an insult , you don't know what the tech sector is up to. And judging by the comments here ... I'm not alone. On the "Iwascoding' forums..they block and ban people with these concerns. They have become a corrupt corporation.. and they have to be purged. Just like the police who investigate themselves.. that is wrong.

GarageSale was great in the past. But version 8 is crippleware, limited to 50 listings per month, unless you buy a subscription ($14.99/month or $149.90/year!). That makes V8 a significant DOWNGRADE from V7. Das ist Quatsch!

Install hidden html in your listings which can be used to track you. Version 7.0.21 build 859 would have someting similar ot this in your eBay listings's html. Thw build number and version would differ for other users. <div style="position: absolute !important; top: -5px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden !important; font-size: 1px !important; line-height: 1px !important;">&nbsp;_gsrx_vers_859 (GS 7.0.21 (859))</div> Searching for "_gsrx_vers" in descriptions on the U.S. site shows 1.5 million items. these are all uses of GS. Searching for "_gsrx_vers_859" returns 38,000 items which are all users of build 859. Searching for "GS 7.0.21" returns 37,000 items. The company displays a counter on their home page displaying the number of listings on eBay uploaded with their product. This is done by harvesting these searches form their various sites. This html is added to the description you upload without your knowledge. You can find it in the raw html by using such tools as FireFox's web inspector. You might be able to remove it using SellerHub bulk find and replace but you could mess up your listings. SellerHub can't change any listing with less than 12 hours left. eBay gives U.S. users 200 listings without insertion fees a month. Version of 8 this product only allows you to upload 50 items unless you pay a $14.99 monthly fee.

I agree with other users here. I've used GarageSale for at *least* 15 years, and I always enjoyed it. It made listing with eBay easier and more user-friendly. But I post in spurts, and while I've always paid for updates, I'm baffled this time because GarageSale 8 seems to be a MESS. It's confusing and is returning all sorts of errors for my listings that don't make sense. Meanwhile, eBay has made listing easier and easier. It's still not great, but as a casual eBay user, why would I keep paying for GarageSale when the "value added" is no longer apparent? I guess the "GarageSale era" has, sadly, come to an end.

Greedy. used to love it, but as an infrequent user, I now find that every time I go to use it there's a paid upgrade. Also it keeps falling out of sync with my listings. Sick of it, and won't use it any longer.

I have been using Garagesale for a long, long time. Maybe since 2010? Great in the beginning and I had no problem paying for upgrades. but I feel as time went on the developer got greedier. Added costs starting coming in everywhere. First with templates, then with their image server. Finally, even with a paid upgrade you can only list 50 items per month, then you need the subscription to list more. Unfortunately with every upgrade the app got sloppier and more buggy and the UI is a complete mess. Given that creating your item listings has become more standard on Ebay, there is less need than ever for this app. Save the hard work and dont bother with Garagesale, you're better off listing directly to Ebay.

Used this software for years, paid for licenses twice over that time and bought templates that I then spent days customising html, hosting banners etc and ironing out optimisation issues on different devices. After my Mbp frazzled with a logicboard failure this week I've had to think long and hard about if I want to use a mac or windows, the only reason to go mac would be familiarity with the process of importing photos --> editing --> listing software --> ebay sales. I was just about to buy a 2020 MBP 13" when I realised GS have changed their pricing again! I'm ok supporting them as a company but having only 50 listings in my uptodate license I bought for GS7 is not enough. I have a personal store that gives me 100 free listings regularly for a £1 and now that option is gone unless I pay out to GS each month too. So I guess it's time to switch back to windows and go 3DSellers based on monthly sales - it's a shame and I'm losing a ton of work but what option do I have?

I've sold on eBay since '99 or so, and used GarageSale since Version 1. They've always been petulant and truculent to deal with but the latest version reached back to 2015 to fill in the wrong data, post that I was offering free shipping on a couple 50lb surplus items and used an address for Paypal that I haven't had access to for four years. I've spent three hours on the phone with eBay trying to straighten things out and have had to cancel half my auctions because they were set up entirely wrong. Sure - user error... but when you hide things behind submenus of submenus of submenus and the software tells you "everything's fine" at some point you have to acknowledge that it's the UI's fault.

Terrible. It has got worse and worse to the point I have had to revert to uploading directly to eBay. Each so-called update has made it worse in the last year, reintroducing glitches that were fixed in previous versions. Version 8 is a waste of money and time.

Always used to LOVE GS, but these days it has more glitches than it's worth. I spend more time trying to get it working than I do creating listings. Much simpler/quicker to list directly from the ebay site. Never thought I'd say that, but I've spent 1/2 day creating listings on GS only to find that there's now a glitch with the upload & looks like I'll have to list them all via ebay after all :(

As another reviewer has said, it was great when first released, but now is an absolute pain as they do not update their shipping data when e-bay changes their optionds (which is quite often for Australia). I don't think it is worth it for the casual user. I've been using it for many years, and I note their latest version 8 is not backwards compatible for earlier versions of OSX. I've been using Garage Sale for years, but I won't be upgrading again.

Boy did they screw up! At the point I am forced to use 8... I will no longer use GarageSale anymore. They are being greedy and over pricing with a subscription plan for over 50 listings. That’s just wrong and they don’t have to go to that rip-off route. GARAGESALE IS NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE! GarageSale owners... We are NOT FOOLS to fall for this rip-off scheme. There are plenty of other options out there for us Mac users, including using windows apps on Mac in Boot Camp or Parallels. OH and by the way your program is very buggy and not worth it for semi professionals to rely on no less big time professional ebayers. We only use it for crap listings because it’s so buggy and many of the features don’t work like they used to before 7. It’s like they got lazying coding the rest of the program and never finished in 7. for example the FIND AND REPLACE! feature is greyed out in 7 and was never finished with code in 7. This 8 version is the straw for me. I am done. If there is a will there is a way to find alternative tools to list for a reasonable price or free.

I have been on eBay a long time. I do not do this for a business, I just sell my own things as I change my collections and such around. That or I sell things for friends and give them the money for them. I have used Garage Sale for quite some time. I have Version 7.0.17b2 (851). I use a Mac. As things set now with it, I would stay away from this program. My view since the new updates what was a fairly decent program before, now is not. It took a very good down hill turn for the worst. In the past I would recommend this program, however now I would suggest you stay away from it. It was never the fastest, and there is a learning curve with it, but now. No. Yes it has some nice features, however the new version down load, just for me is uneventful and a big slow down. There is a bug with this version. More accurately put there are more than one bug you may run into, but I will tell you about the most annoying one. You can get your whole listing set up on Garage Sale. You have downloaded the photos in your photo's section on your computer for the item you wish to sell.. Now using the garage sale program you go up and hit "load photos". It takes you over to where your photo's are. The problem is it does not "see" the most recently uploaded photos on your computer. Yet they are there in plain view on your computer. Even by going up and hit the refresh button under photo section on Garage Sale they do not show up to upload to Garage Sale. The only way Garage Sale will "see your photos" is if you go and sign out of Garage Sale totally and sign back in. Then you can go to photos and "poof" they will be there. Can you see how this will slow you down? I just quit using is. Neither hitting the download/refresh click under Photo's on Garage Sale, nor going up to the very top and hitting the refresh button (which seldom if ever works by the way), does not help. I have emailed their support countless times on a several different bugs on this and they do respond and work to fix it but this is still unfixed. The last email basically said, this is an issue they have run into and so has several users and the only remedy for it is to just sign out and back in each time if you want to load them. Well that is time consuming, annoying and non productive. In fact it is so annoying I am not using Garage Sale much if at all any anymore. I have tried the eBay phone app which is slick but does not a simple way to put in terms and conditions as I type faster than I text. It would be nice if it had a section where you can type in reoccurring terms and conditions and have them post on every listing automatically. Then hands down the eBay app would be the fastest and slickest way to list and a lot faster than Garage Sale even when it was working the way it should. I am using the eBay computer program for listing now. It is simple to cut and paste my reoccurring terms and conditions. If you factor in everything with the bugs on Garage Sale, to me the eBay listing tool works just as good and faster than Garage Sale. I am just a user that has used Garage Sale for a long time, I have no vested interest in any other listing software program. Just giving my unbiased view of it. I have mailed eBay a letter explaining two things I would like to see on their phone app. If they do this, I will use their phone app hands down. For now i will not. As for investing in Garage Sale, based on the current bugs I have had with it, I would not invest the money in it. When it worked flawlessly I would have given it a four. Now I can only rate it a one.
