From time to time i need to set up a nice looking auction on ebay for macintosh computer hardware.
Garage Sale provides nice looking templates and makes entering information a pleasure.
Where it fails lots of times is on uploading and starting the auction succesfully. When i get an Error like 240 which seems to come from ebay according to unsupported product subscription, there`s no help to track the error down. And most of the time i can start the auction successfully with the identical description and words via the ebay web interface.
which keeps me thinking about hidden problems in the software.
could be great. but i wasted hours of time with it.

Update… still very happy, What I am most happy about is GarageSale does everything that is expect and No monthly service charge like Ebay online service webistes charge to do this. 5 stars all the way. Working with GarageSale right from my computer is faster and easier. I am able to do everything right from my MAC as it should be. LOVE IT!

WOW! I am so excited. GarageSale has come a long way. I have been using GarageSale 6.3 for over a month now and I am so trilled with it. GarageSale does everything any Ebay online service does and best of all No monthly service charge....WAHOO, HIP-HIP-HURRAY! I am doing the happy dance, LOL!

It's sooooo easy to drag and drop images into templates or use html. The images automatically transfer to a holding service of your choice. You can use free image services for this like PhotoBucket by pointing to the ftp address or use GarageSale image services or use your own website service for holding images in a folder. Once you set the image holding tank address up, GarageSale does the rest automatically without even thinking about it.

As for the reviewers below about auto update and charging... I don't see that problem because there is a preference for clicking On or Off for auto update. Just uncheck it so it's off. Even if you have to pay once a yr for a upgrade that's your decision, it's still worth it. Hey they are working hard over there why not credit them the little that they ask for. Ebay listing services charge much more by the year which I could not stand to pay that monthly charge. It's bad enough ebay charges so much.

Having complete control over my listings and images on my computer is soooo nice! and soooo EASY! and soooo FAST! LOVE IT!

You all are wrong. I AM A CUSTOMER. what makes you think this is a company talking. DUH! I never said I was from a company. I'm a very happy customer with GaageSale! MacUpdate knows who I am and I don't work for GS or anyone, I am a graphic designer and photographer. You all must be competitors to even care or be worried about what I say. I am saying GS is 100% better now and I LOVE IT.

I have been using GarageSale for several years for creating and listing professional-looking eBay auctions. It has paid for itself over and over. I have tried all the listing programs and GarageSale is truly the best. It is the easiest and most intuitive of the listing programs and is the most comprehensive allowing you to do everything from GarageSale so you don't even have to go to the eBay website. The tech support is excellent which is a definite pro. There is also a great Yahoo group forum of friendly GarageSale users for exchanging ideas and generally helping each other. GarageSale has saved me a lot of time, energy, and sanity!

I've never had any problems with the updates. There's upgrade pricing for previous owners. The model is really no different than Apple's themselves.

It's pretty good software that makes nice looking Ebay auction listings. Is it overpriced? Yeah, probably is but the cost spread out over years is insignificant.

Garage Sale is a quite useful tool, but their upgrade policy is unacceptable considering the pace of new releases. Most of them don’t even add useful features, it seems to me like the developers bump the version number to cash in again.

If you buy this, expect to pay for it again every 9 months or so.

I’m not using the application nearly enough to justify spending so much money it and regret purchasing it in the first place, it’s a shame really.

Lousy pricing policies and sneaky upgrade policies.

I took my business elsewhere. Buy it today and they will charge you again soon?!?

Bad business model, bad company.

Yes, sort of like Adobe in that a new paid upgrade version comes out each year to fix the problems of the previous one...all the while introducing new issues.

Caveat emptor!

The auto hidden update feature was the killer for me. Also the app itself was starting to flake out.Would not transfer the auction correctly to ebay or not accept information entered into auction windows. This was a good app a few versions ago but now it is a piece of crap!

I've found this latest version very buggy, and I agree with the posts on here about their 'sneaky' upgrade tactics. I preferred the previous version for stability.

Great OSX ebay app. Very usefull for tracking your bits.

One downside though .. ... it is very expensive.
I would recommend it if it was about $15.

Beware before updating from version 5.0.1 to 5.0.2. The latest version seems to have massively broken access to the OS X Keychain, which removes any authorized accounts and prevents them from being added back. It also produces multiple requests to access the Keychain every time the program is started. I tried redownloading and installing the program and reset all of my old preferences--nothing helps.

I just emailed the developer last night, but need to get my hands on version 5.0.1 ASAP because I have auctions running and some finished ones I need to have. The last backup of the program I have is version 5.0.0 which was recently broken by an Ebay API change. The developer on has very old versions for download (3.5.something) from the website and not recent ones!

Very frustrating! I guess I'll be hesitant to update without backing up the program in the future!

Just downloaded GarageSale 3.1.3, after realizing how terrible iSale can be.

I love the ease of GarageSale, but recently encountered a problem, where I can only type my description in the editor, instead of simply clicking into the description area, and typing. I'll click into this area, and get nothing, no curser, etc.... If I type a bunch of mumbo jumbo, it'll show up when I open the "Edit Description" box. Not a biggie, but kind of a pain to float between two windows, when I know it's not necessary. I've created five auctions with no problem, this just started today.

I'm Mac illiterate, so any help on where I went wrong would be appreciated!

I loved this program before it stopped working for me out of nowhere.

I have sent emails to the support and also posted messages on the message board with no responses (yet).

I can't seem to get a connection to ebay. I get "null" errors etc..

I have double and triple checked my FTP settings and everything looks ok.

I have no idea what's going on and I've got 200 auctions ready to go.

I'm so bummed out it's unbelievable.

That 'Design Template Utility' looks interesting, but it appears to have been compiled as Intel-only. My G4 Mac Mini complains that it's unsupported on this architecture.

Any chance of a Universal version, please?
