Automatic Haiku Generator with 3 styles of Haiku. All styles are random. There is Traditional Valid which generates Haiku in the most common form, Traditional, which may be valid or just haiku-like and Tech, which like Traditional may be valid or Haiku-like but is generated using computer terms.

Version 2.0: Added a "Hacker" style which generates over 100,00 new haikus using hacker vocabulary.

Whee! Love the "tech" setting, that's my kind of haiku. Here are some phrases I've received:

digital Jedi GPS
spammed holographic BBS
breaker trashes the port
A transmitted byte
analog Jedi coffee
cd-rom decodes the user
a compiled script-kiddie

A lot of fun, especially if you know that haikus don't have to be 5 - 7 - 5, that's just the most common format and the one that most schools teach for semantic purposes.

I would like to see the valid traditional expanded though. It's nice the way it is, but it would be nice for it to have more possibilites.

The above comment may have been posted by David Giffin, the developer of this program. The IP address of the developer and the review above match exactly. The developer may claim that it was a coworker in the same building that posted the review, but typically this reason is very improbable.

Cute. however I am not getting many correct 5-7-5 Haikus, even on the Traditional Valid setting. Needs more tweaking.

I love Haiku, so I tried out this app. Each time I generated a poem, none of them were actually in the correct 5-7-5 Haiku form. The first and third lines were anywhere from 3 to 6 syllables instead of the correct 5, and the second was usually 6 syllables instead of the correct 7.

Many thanks... some of the version tracker crowd has complained because I didn't force strict syllable rules... some people don't understand that this is just supposed to be fun.

A future version will have even more options, as soon as I have a little free time again.
