The Graphics Driver Update delivers updated graphic drivers for Mac OS X v10.2.8 to restore DVD Player functionality.
This updater works perfectly, restoring DVD Player functionality with a minimum of fuss. In fact, this elegant installer must even disable DVD Palyer functionality first of all so that it can then restore it - quite clever really and all in the same package. So now, although on the surface my DVD Player works the same as always, I have a warm inner feeling that it is in fact better and therefore you might call this a user update rather than a mac update. But... hang on a minute.. what's that? A nagging feeling is creeping in... What else did it do in there? What's their agenda. What..? ugh..!
To the 1.5K users who went out and panic downloaded this thing: What exactly does the thing do? I haven't noticed any problems with DVD Player since 10.2.8. Someone wanna fill me in...?
The problem is with 10.3.2 and DVD
playback. I never had the DVD player
quit in the middle of playing a DVD
until upgrading to 10.3. I had to install an extra HD with 10.2.8 so that I could again play DVD's on my Digital Audio 1.2Ghz x 2 ,ATI 8500,
Pioneer dvr-105 equipped Macintosh.
My DVD Player always freezes halfway into a DVD - such as on LOTR:TTT when King Theodon is throwing Wormtongue down the stairs. No way to resume play except for a full shutdown (using the power button, as all other methods are frozen). I'm running 10.2.8 on a dual-833 Mhz G4. I don't think I've ever managed to watch a whole DVD on this computer.
Hoping this driver updater fixes the problem.
Can someone please explain this apparent fix for an imaginary problem? Does anyone have firsthand experience with any such problem? Very unusual.
