There's only a version 1.0.3 demo but no 1.0.3 update? :P

Definitely a fun game for every kid at heart, my little brother and nephew love playing this for hours together (taking turns) and they definitely don't mind waiting for me to reinstall it every time they visit! lol PEACE.

Great game is all I can say. I have no idea why others hate it. Yes, keyboard arrangement can be a little weird, and it's fixed on the demo, but it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to get used to it. In fact after playing it for a bit, you'll see that it actually makes sense. The gameplay reminds me a lot of Beyond Good And Evil, which is a good thing, since no one seems to be bringing that title to the Mac. All in one, one great game. Too bad others don't think the same. It's one of the few game titles within these couple of years that actually make me want to buy it. And at the special price now, I don't see why not.

A word of advice: don't try this on anything less than a 1GHz G4 and Radeon 9000.

The demo download link is FUBARed. Get it from here: http://www.feral.co.uk/downloads/rayman3/RaymanDemo.sit

Good, fun game for much of the family... but they've still issues with that sound buffering I'm guessing because it brought the app to a screeching hault a couple of times... gave it a few moments (I'm no wuss or newbie tech troubleshooter... but I genuinely thought the app had crashed once or twice... thankfully I was patient enough to wait it out!)...

Overall a fun game though...

After downloading this program, it bombs during the install, with an error that occurs when the program tries to complete installing the DATA.HST file. Quite frustrating as I was really interested in playing the demo.

I would re-download the installer as it sounds like you have a damaged download.

If you still have problems email the support team.

This seems like a very bare-bones demo. None of the usual options (controls, display, etc), and no directions. It just kind of dumps you into this bizarre world created for consols. After learning a bit of how to move and what drugs the creators must have been on to make this, Rayman is a bit of fun. I'm not sure if I'd buy it but I'm glad it's what it is instead of another game about war.

The game runs poorly on a 500mhz G4 but nicely on a 1.3 ghz G4.

Also one other thing I noticed, it looks beautiful in OS 9, wheres in 10, it runs at a lower resolution and bit depth..like 16 or 8 or something.

Played the original Rayman on a PC many years ago. This one looks great but has a few glitches, namely the stutter-bug where the action stops for about 10 seconds and the sound stutters. This is mentioned by a poster below I believe.
I played this with a games controller on a 1Ghz G4, 1GB RAM, 64MB Geforce4 and when it ran properly it runs great.
An option to change resolutions would be nice.
Not worth buying just yet. Waiting for an update.

Finally, a demo that harkens back to the good old days, when you got more than one level to try out! That alone made the big file size worth the time. However, there are a couple problems: Twice while playing, the game froze for a good 10 seconds and then recovered (though the audio then stuttered). Also, for a game that only requires 500 MHz, it ran somewhat choppy on the tutorial level on my 800 MHz, 512 MB machine. Aside from that, a fun demo- as fun as Rayman 2!

For people who are fussing about the controls, it's no big deal. The game isn't a third-person shooter, it's a platform game. To me this means that the camera preaty much moves by itself to give you an unabstructed veiw and that the controls are player-relative. You don't need to used three hans or opperate the mouse at all.

Big download turns into a big bore. This is a seriously unfun game. Just like the last reviewer wrote, a big part of that comes from the controls, which could only have been thought up by someone with three hands (or no mouse). Add to that the way the camera still twists and turns out of your control and it is barely playable.

This is a pretty full fledged demo, with plenty of opportunities to get a feel for the game. The graphics are top notched for a platformer and the sound is good, though a bit low quality for my tastes. My biggest gripe is that a) the default controls are awful (since when is the "c" button a good default for jump and I can't remember the last time I actually used arrow keys for movement) and b) you can't change them. That immediately makes it a lot less fun to play, so much so that that would be the deciding factor for me in buying the game.

The readme with the demo says the full game has fully customizable keys, so if that's what's holding you back, go ahead and buy this!

The problem is that if the person finds the default controls unusable and can't change them, they won't play the demo, hence won't develop an appreciation for it and want to buy the game. It defeats the purpose of even having a demo in other words. Same goes for limiting the video modes. How am I supposed to be impressed at 640x480? Or does the full game run at that resolution?

There have been other demos with preset controls, but they were generally more sensible. These ones seemed ad hoc, the type you usually see early in the development cycle. Definitely not a good move offering the demo in this poor state. Generally speaking, a demo should be culled from the final polished game, not some random nightly build. First impressions are everything in this business.
