I really do love this software.

However, two issues I'm having which I can't seem to resolve.

Firstly, two finger back/forward on the Magic Trackpad seems to not work properly - especially in iTunes.

Secondly, when viewing a PDF in Safari, scrolling is not possible at all. The only way to read the document is to download.

Otherwise, an excellent piece of software.

I have been using successive versions of Smart Scroll for many years now. I rate it as an essential addition to my Macs. I have found the developer to be consistently diligent & competent, and he always replies to bug reports. By its very nature, it is certain to be incompatible with some versions of some apps. Simply turn it off for incompatible apps from within the prefs pane. The developer obviously can only test a tiny fraction of the countless millions of possible system configurations for compatibility. So revert to an older version of SmartScroll if that doesn't work. [You did save the older versions ?] So today I upgraded from 3.9.1 to 3.9.4, as v 3.9.2 & 3.9.3 did not work well for me.

Smart Scroll is on a very short list of apps that I own that I would not update to a newer Mac OS without it. It's that good, it's that vital. The developer is amazingly responsive to suggestions and you would do yourself an injustice to not closely look at all the options available including hover scroll, etc.

Every time there's a software update, I have to go without SmartScroll for a few days waiting for an update from the developer.

Whilst I really like this software, it is getting really OLD that this still occurs.

No other software on my Mac has this issue, just Smart Scroll. Why does it get broken with every update?

Unlike most other software which interfaces only with parts of Mac OS X that Apple guarantees will not change in an OS update, Smart Scroll needs to interface with code that often does change. So each time it takes me a few days to check that everything is in order, before I feel confident enough to release a version of Smart Scroll that runs on the new OS update (if I have missed anything please email me and I'll fix it).

I check the final public version of each OS update to avoid problems caused by potential changes between the last developer pre-release version and the public version of each update.

I don't like these delays anymore than you do. As Apple's APIs evolve, I hope it will become possible to implement the features Smart Scroll brings in a way that won't require tweaks for each OS update.

Can anyone tell me, does this enhance Lion scrolling in any way?

(User for years, B.L. Unsure I can see any effect now.)

Try adjusting the settings and see if you see the difference. Also, depending on your settings, you might be able to press your caps lock key to temporarily disable Smart Scroll in Safari, etc. and then see the difference instantly as you toggle your caps lock.

For years, I used Smart Scroll with success. Now, with Lion & Safari 5.1.3, I am unable to get 2 finger swiping to work. Customer support has been responsive, but still no joy.

Oddly, 2 finger swiping works with Smart Scroll disabled, thus I am unable to use Smart Scroll as intended.

I can but hope resolution returns with Mountain Lion or the next Smart Scroll release.

That's really strange. You might want to try reinstalling it or something. I don't have this issue nor does anyone else I've heard of.

> Support for Super Scroll ... in Adobe Photoshop CS5

If only Adobe was this smart. This works for zooming in and out of images with force feedback. Once you learn to control it and adjust the coasting to your liking; it really adds another entire level of control to zooming in & out of images that saves you time and even makes it more enjoyable in the process.

The developer making this feature work again in Photoshop CS5 is spectacular.

If you don't understand what I'm talking about, I made a video of it in action a long time ago here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aJsS5eCQo0

If you don't have Smart Scroll, my Photoshop is better than your Photoshop. (Sorry Windows users)

10.6.8 SmartScroll, Safari & Picasa !

Solution : décocher Auto Scroll. (À noter que l'auto-update et la recherche manuelle de nouvelle version ne fonctionnent toujours pas).
Seul probleme fixé : décocher Hover scroll désactive enfin effectivement cette fonction dans Safari.

Traduction approximative :

I finally found what was blocking the enlargement of photos, slide show and navigating in Picasa with safari (and only Safari) : SmartScroll ! I'm a little angry  : what time wasted searching for the cause. And I see that the problem is not resolved from 3.9b to 3.9 ! Solution : you have to disable Auto Scroll. (Note that the auto-update and manual search of new version still does not work).
Only problem fixed: to disable Hover scroll really finally deactivate this feature in Safari.

Does anyone else experience issues with Smart Scroll's Grab Scroll not working with either Echofon or Twitter for Mac?

It's very odd that the two apps that I have issues with are both Twitter clients. It's probably just a coincidence.

I see this issue in Reeder for Mac as well. I've been in contact with developer, who said he was going to look into the scrolling situation with these apps, but that was a month or so ago. Hoping to see this addressed soon, as I use both apps quite a bit.

Nice software, been using for a while now.
I was wondering if anyone can help me on this one: I've notices that on iTunes scrolling on Cover Flow with the trackpad up and down or with the scrolling wheel from the mouse doesn't work any more. When I turn Smart Scroll off, it works again. It doesn't seem to affect Cover Flow on open windows.
Thank you

Version 3.7b1 keeps crashing Safari 5 on my 1st-generation Core Duo iMac, running OS 10.6.3. The crash report gives a message to the effect that "Safari unexpectedly quit while using the Smart Scroll plugin." (I forget the exact wording.) After disabling the SS beta, Safari 5 became completely stable.

Trouble is, I can't revert to the previous stable version 3.6 of SS. All attempts to install it fail because of a message that there's a newer version (the beta) available. Attempts to restore SS 3.6 from Time Machine also fail. The pref pane won't start, and the troubleshooting steps recommended- permissions repair and .plist deletion- are ineffective.

So now no Smart Scroll. I weep.

It looks like Safari and Mail quit unexpectedly - actually happens when nothing else is going on.

I turn off Smart Scroll and the crashing ends.

I'm having the "could not start" problem too. I've been CONSTANTLY plagued by it since upgrading to Snow Leopard. I think there's a bug and I don't the think the developer has quite solved the problem (if you read this, Mr. Developer, I'll be happy to work with out on this problem by giving you whatever info you need about my Mac's configuration and the other stuff I'm running).

I upgraded to 3.1.3, and now there is a distracting, "flickering wave" that flows through the content of Web pages as I scroll in Safari and FireFox. It's like a liquid ripple effect.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled. No change. Has anyone else experienced this problem and/or have a fix? Thanks.
