ObjectScript is a general purpose object-oriented programming language. It is designed to be simple to learn, easy to use, yet still powerful, combining the convenience of an interactive interpreter with many of the features of Java:
  • a simple java-like syntax
  • javadoc support
  • class system, with single inheritance
  • private/protected/public fields and methods
  • exceptions
  • synchronization and threading
  • compiles to bytecode for higher performance

Uh. It would be 500% better if it wasn't written in Java Script. The launching lasts (on iBook 500 MHz) about 2 minutes. And all the interface reacts after 10 secs. There are some GUI bugs but god damn these. For me it's useless.

Nevertheless, I don't think it's a bad application. For people with faster machines OS can be really useful. But I still see better RealBasic 'cause it's very easy-to-use product and relatively fast either on slower computers.

Uh. Your "review" would be 500% better if you knew the difference between Java and JavaScript. Take 5 minutes to do the online research. ObjectScript, by the way, was written in Java, which may account for its slowness.

btw, do you know what version of macosx and java you have? It certainly wont be snappy on a G3 500, but if you are still using java v1.3.x you should see some improvement if you upgrade to the latest.

If you want a real native OO scripting language for Mac OS X, try F-script.
