Mac Messenger installed smoothly on 8.6 but I receive the same problem, i.e. class NilObjectException. Auto shut-down alternates between that and Error Type 2. Please help.
Adium isn't Classic Compatible, Mac Messenger is, which is probably it's main reason of excistance
you aren't forced to use it on OS X, but if you're on Classic there isn't much of another choice except for Mac Messenger if you still want to be able to connect to the MSN Network.

Classic = Dead.
Anonymouscommented on 09 Jul 2005
Justifying a program lacking basic resources such as lack of international characters by sying that's because there's no competition in Classic is just lame. Sorry for being rude, but it is.

I, for one, am glad you still support Classic. My OS 9.2.2 works fine for my needs on my iMac DV. I will not upgrade to OS X until the time comes for me to buy a new Mac.
Your Mac Messenger works better for me than MS's native version.
So, thank you very much for supporting Classic.

@1 There still are some people that use Classic.
I for one, dual boot classic with OS X. It's faster to play games on my G3 300Mhz (i'm getting a new mac soon, but still i like Classic).

I've been using Mac Messenger through a few versions now with varying success. I downloaded and installed this new v.3.5.3.
I tried using the sprocket-looking button's menu to quit the app and got this error message: An exception of class OutOfBoundsException was not handled. Application must shutdown.
I also cannot get it to sign in automatically. I select my account in preferences, but when I click to close the preferences window, the designated account de-selects and the window stays open until I click to close it again. In other words, I cannot select my account and get the sign-in option to accept it. This wasn't a problem with the last few versions.
I've also been having a problem with the mail notification insisting that I have 14 messages in my junk mail when it is empty. This problem has been with me through the last 2 or 3 versions. I've tried deleting my preferences to no avail.

I have a problem.
Every time i try to sign in i get an error message that has lots of random letters and numbers then says cannt connect to host messenger.hotmail.com or something like that. Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone help me with this?
i really want to see my friends on webcam or even use my own webcam but i can how come? i have mac messenger 6.0 but i want to use webcam how come i cant? and what do i do so i can use webcam?
I just bought office 2004. I am having a hard time installing MSN messenger. It keeps saying there are newer versions available. Once I have downloaded them, and the blue bar scrolls across, an icon on my desktop appears that says Messenger511.dmg. WHAT DO I DO NEXT ? Any help is appreciated.
Depends on what Mac OS you are running. If you are using MAc OS 9.2.2 or lower, you cannot use what you've downloaded. The .dmg file extention is a disk image file (installer) that you can only open and run in Mac OS X. MS quit supporting Mac OS 9.2.2 (and lower) a long time ago.
Before getting my new Intel iMac, I was using this Mac Messenger instead of Micro$oft's own client because theirs always gave me problems like those described in other posts here.
um well I was if anyone here can help me out. see I have an apple mac 9.0.4 but I cant find MSN for it I was wondering if any of you guys might know where I can find one? Or if you knew where I could find a Mac Messager for it?
not really sure if I put this under the right review tpye oh well.
oh yeah I have a question for u if you have Mac Messager can you talk/add people who have MSN? I'm really conflused I just found out there is a Mac Messager so I dont know much...
im quite new with apple.. i've downloaded Mac messenger, but the file opens as a text file? how do i install it.? or change the programs which opens it? yes you can say it i am a rookie....
File Transfer is not enabled yet, we're in the process of getting it to work still...
as of the random quitting... try increasing Mac Messenger's ram under file > Get Info > Memory
What happen with share files? Because in MM 3.5.3 appears a windows when someone try to send me a file but never works...
Sometimes the MM quit unspectly... what can i do about that? I allready deleted preferences.

Pros: very simple to use. Cons: it's a featureless, undeveloped messenger. Infact, i see more tools in my inbox!!!Go Adium or amsn, these two messengers show progress somewhat. Still, video lacks in all! What's going on?
If needed v3.5 is still available on sourceforge.net
if that one doesn't make some of those problems go away, then i don't know anymore

I posted the previous troubleshooting message.
In follow-up, I downloaded and installed MSN Messenger to compare. MSN messenger gave me the same 14 junk mail message as this did, so that at least is an MSN/Hotmail problem and not a Mac Messenger one.
I deleted the MSN and kept the Mac Messenger, although I may return to the previous MM 3.5 as you suggested.

MacMessenger354.sit
If it has a .txt suffix after the .sit suffix, remove the .txt suffix. Then you can open the file/install the software.
Yup, I'm having hte same problem.
