recorder.xhead is a simple voice recorder application. It supports .aac, .aif, .au, .avi, .mp3, .mp4, .mov, .wav and other sound formats. Support for recording from both internal and external microphones including devices like: Griffin's iMic, DV video cameras or even Jabra Bluetooth headsets. Plays audio streams and exports your playlist to your iPod, so you can take your voice memos on the road. Contains RSS podcast file support, basic ftp support as well as VOX - automated recording based on input volume meter level.

Just an FYI, XHead seems to be out of business. Website is down.

Decent software though. Can record with QuickTime now though, so not so sure why you need this.

Fried my computer yesterday while doing some OSX java updates and Adobe Bridge. Had to completely start over. Recorder XHead did not recognize my registration information since I basically have a new computer. The developer responed quickly by giving me a new registration number. All I can say is that along with a Five Star application comes Five Star service! Thanks!

I would recommend this to every Mac user, it is extremely easy to use, sound quality is brill and I have got an incredible use out of it already - from recording my own voice memos to recording internet radio and teleconference files. Why isn't this world-famous?!

I ma a recent convert to Mac and was a bit worried that I would not find the types of software that I use in the Windoze environment. Not to fear with Xheadsoftware. I downloaded a couple demos and did not even bother for them to time out. I went back and bought the entire bundle and at $34.95 this is a bargin. Run, do not walk to their site: www.xheadsoftware.com and pick up some great software. I give them a 9.9 out of 10.

Phenomenal and great service. They really care. Xhead software really works! The recorder was easy to use and made transfering files easy as well as recording live and turning into mp3's.

THESE GUYS HERE AT XHEAD ARE THE BEST! CUSTOMER SERVICE AT IT'S FINEST!! A++ FOR THEM! Xhead REcorder is the best recorder for MAC around. I SUGGEST everyone who owns a mac, to purchase this great fun software!

I've found it! I've found it! I desperately needed a straightforward, works-every-time voice recorder and along came recorder.xhead, which, importantly for me, produces files that come up sharp and clean in my audio editor, and sound just as sharp and clean. To date, I've found nothing amiss, nothing to gripe about. Good job, xhead! And don't waste your time developing frou-frou (fancy skins and the like). Cheers!

I just downloaded v3.0 and it works well for me. I'm recording sound directly from my iSight camera mic.

I'm using it for practicing Spanish and playing back my pronunciation.

The UI looks nice too.

Avoid avoid avoid. Does NOT save mp3s, only saves mp4 (not capatible with older iPods). Interface is clunky, there is NO pause during recordings. I paid for this dog. Don't make my mistake; go for Audio Recorder (1.3) and the 'Better Sound' PrefPane (for good gain control) instead.

This 3.0 version is great. You can now pause recordings and the UI looks good to me. Not sure about the old version.

It saves to .aif, .wav, .mov, .mp4 and can convert to .mp3 as well.

You can even download songs from iTunes store and save them out as .wav and convert them back to .mp3 and use them on your .mp3 players. Pretty cool.
