I noticed that when I switched to another user and then back again using quick user switching DeskShade was no longer running. I emailed the developer and within one working day the problem was fixed. Great support for a great program.

Just a head's up that Deskshade seem to continue to work with Snow Leopard all the way up to 10.6.6 -- I didn't see it directly addressed here or anywhere on the Dev's site, so I just thought I'd share the good news.

FYI: DeskShade is still working properly with Lion 10.7.4 on an iMac Early 2009.

I haven't tried this on Mavericks or Yosemite, but I've read a comment on another website that it can lock you out or something. So, I think that this app is not only discontinued, it's also possibly hazardous for newer OS versions. So beware running this.

Using v2.1 with Leopard.4, I'm having a little trouble with the *Exposé: Covered desktop is immune* function. When checked, the desktop still behaves as though the box is unchecked. The desktop cover moves away, along with the windows, revealing the icons on the desktop. This does not happen with v2.1 and Tiger.11. I've emailed macrabbit, but have had no response.

Looks like a great app, but I seem to be having one problem with it. When I lock the screen the first couple of times after launching the program, it does fine. After locking the screen a few times the lock image stops appearing and I only get the blank wallpaper. I can still click on it and enter the password, but sometimes when I click on it the screen even goes completely black. Thanks.

Also, when the lock does not appear, the dialog box that you enter the password in does not come up either. You just have to type in the password blindly.

Thanks you so much for updating this great application! I've been a long-time user of DeskShade, and am thrilled to see that it is now fully Leopard-compatible. This utility is absolutely invaluable to me. Keep up the great work, MacRabbit!

Great product, but it always crashes when I disconnect from my second monitor! I have emailed the developer about the bug several times, but have not gotten a response.

I have the same problem when I disconnect my external monitor. I use a MacBook, connected to a 20.1" Wide-screen LCD. Instead of using both screens, I utilize the hardware feature where I can close the lid and the main screen will be the attached monitor. I prefer this over having two screens. I consider the way I'm using the app as "unconventional", so I've never bothered the developer about it crashing once I disconnect the external monitor.

Application seems to be using a bit too much RAM... all i'm having it do is run and activity monitor is saying it's using 39.74MB - wish it didn't use that much or I'd be sure to buy/use it permanently.

DeskShade is nice, though a little bit of bloatware also! If you just need to quickly hide/show your desktop icons I recommend "DesktopSweeper", a little APE hack. It get's invoked just with a keyboard shortcut. So, no "mousing & clicking" needed! While we are at it, "Window Dragon" is also a nice APE hack, which let's you drag your windows from anywhere you want, with just the press of a modifier key! Sorry for being a little OT.
