I was using SmoothScroll for 2 years and I enjoyed it. But I decided to find an alternative with one-time purchase. I decided to install Smooze. Because I was used to SmoothScroll's behavior, I spent some time to tweak some Smooze settings to be more like in SmoothScroll ("Vertical lines" changed to 1.00, "Duration" changed to 500 and "Animate scroll" changed to QuarticOut). After that tweaks Smooze started to work better than SmoothScroll. Also I had an issue with IntelliJ which didn't work with SmoothScroll. With Smooze IntelliJ works perfectly.

Hmmm... I almost purchased this until I came here, read the reviews and saw the incredibly unprofessional responses the developer has given to people who've given their feedback, simply because he doesn't agree with them. Everybody has the right to their opinions and to comment on a piece of software, but getting very rude, arrogant replies, with name calling and swearing from the developer is not right - at all. Sounds like the developer has a major chip on his shoulder, and needs to go on an anger management course. To be professional in business, you have to act professionally, not verbally abuse potential customers for giving their personal opinion. Regardless of the quality of the software I won't be supporting a developer who treats potential customers this way and will look elsewhere. Bad attitude = customer lost.

Yes everybody has the right to their opinions, that's why everybody can comment here. But having a right to have an opinion doesn't mean that opinion has any value.

Talking about the software as if it cost 10x it's real price and giving it one star based on that is plain stupid.

That is a fact and not an opinion lol

Software is ok as it is. Does what it does. It costs $10 to own... every year. $120 in 10 years. This would have been 2-stars if the developer wasn't so arrogant. Just read all his replies in the reviews section. Support devs who love their users.

Updated: See, SUPER ARROGANT DEVELOPER DOES NOT NEED OUR SUPPORT.

My response is always appropriate to the stupidity or meanness I’m responding to. And to the kindness and honesty. It goes both ways.

I have no problem with people who find this app expensive, but coming here to give half star and one star reviews knowing the quality of the software IS dishonest and disgusting. It is primitive provocation.

It is like going into a shop and taking a shit in front of all the customers because you find their clothes expensive.

It is a mean and stupid thing to do and I will call it out anytime I see it, thank you very much.

I love my users but you guys are not one of them and I’m okay with that.

Note that the reviewer changed his text
from "$120 / year" to "$10 / year"

Which now reflects the real price of the product.

Yes it also costs $1,000 in a 100 years. And if you're not careful you might have to sell the liver of your children aaand grandchildren in order to buy it and be able to get a license that works on Mars as well ?

Mars needs separate license sorry.

giving a link to another project is one thing. Giving this one star is disgusting and dishonest. And you know it.

I have open source projects as well, the Chrome version of this project has been free and open source for more than 7 years now.

People buying this Mac app feel like giving back. You are not one of them.

Giving this one star and providing a link to a free alternative is not "disgusting" and "dishonest". @Dev: You don't have to be so aggressive and condescending to people who react negatively to your pricing and behavior. The only honest thing here is that your software does not really add anything more than what other products are providing... which would have been fine if you weren't so arrogant and the pricing was not expensive. This is $120 a year to own. I can buy a whole load of other software with my $110. Stop shitting on the users here.

It's not a scam. It is a free choice to support me as a developer to continue working on classical mouse wheels when Apple stopped caring.

There are alternatives, this one has a arguably the best feel to the animation, which is superior to a lot of people.

Cheers

I wanted to try it but it crashes on launch on my OS 10.9.5. :-( Have tried changing permissions with BatChmod: no way. The crash report in the Console says: "Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT)"

I was coming to the end of the trial period for SmoothScroll. I have to say I have enjoyed using it. I almost bought the discounted yearly subscription but something made me pause and googled to see if there was other cheaper alternatives out there. I then found Smooze and it is just as good and I really like the fact that I can tweak it so much. It is cheaper too and only as a one time fee.

I was going to purchase SmoothScroll but was put off by the subscription model. Now thanks to others, I found Smooze and I think I will buy that instead. I guess I am not the first and I won't be the last person to do this.

There are others with more features, some less expensive.

It is an individual choice and preference. They all have free trials and different animations.

Everybody can decide the way they want their scrolling to feel 24/7/365

Smooze is a better alternative with a reasonable price tag, a lot more features, a lot more customization to your scrolling and a much smoother experience. I've used SmoothScroll before Smooze existed and Smooze wins in every category. (A subscription for this? get real) SmoothScroll, I guess this is goodbye.

$20 YEARLY? Don't you think that's a bit much? There are better alternatives out there. Smooze costs a fraction of that price and offers a lot more.

it's currently on sale. If you buy it now it's only $10 yearly (discount lasts for the lifetime of the subscription).

Snooze has more features.
The scrolling experience and animation is way better in SmoothScroll..

I agree with DaveFrost. Dear SmoothScroll Developer, Nothing in SmoothScroll is better. Your price tag is ridiculous and Smooze does a better job with the animated scrolling. You need to improve your product instead of claiming that your product is better to cover up your greediness.

The animation in SmoothScroll is superior for the people using SmoothScroll. I'm one of them. You may be not. Nobody takes your money if you don't give it. I'm not the one holding on to every penny. Who's the greedy one? Have a good day.
